WoW-AddOn / UI Modification: FearWardBuff

Version 1.10.2.1

scripted by dieck, wow-dieck@jwr.de

Feel free to edit, but please mail modifications to me, so I can put your improvements online.

----- ENGLISH -----

-- What does this addon do?

The FearWardBuff (fwb) manages a list of people in your party/raid and buffs them with the
dwarfen priests fear ward.

It priorizes warriors, rogues and paladins as meelee participants.

Before patch 1.10 it could hook into the movement functions to "automatically"
cast fear ward. That feature was nuked by blizzard (which I can actually understand).

Now a chat message is triggered (max. every 30 sec) informing you when players
in your party/raid are unbuffed and you're ready to cast (cooldown done).
So you know when to hit or click the buff function.

Players who can't be buffed (e.g. too far away) are put at the end of the list, to be buffed
later.

Before every cast there is a test if the player already has been fear warded.
So you can use this addon concurrently on more than one dwarf priest in your group/raid.

New with 1.10.0.2:
Buffs can be announced to your party/raid/any channel
You can pin the addon to a specified player (e.g. your main tank)

-- Why do we need this?

The addon keeps track of who is already buffed, so you don't have to.

-- How does it work?

Simply copy/unpack the directory FearWardBuff to the Interface/AddOns directory of your
WoW installation.

At the next login there should be a message saying FearWardBuff (FWB) is loaded.

You can set some options with the command /fwb in any chat window.

/fwb enable enables FWB (main switch)
/fwb disable disables FWB (main switch)

/fwb enable reminder | disable reminder buff reminder in chat window
/fwb enable egoism | disable egoism buff yourself first
/fwb enable notify | disable notify notify givven channel after buff

/fwb set channel NAME
notify to channel NAME. Special names: self (chat-window), party, raid

/fwb restart re-initiates the addon
use this when you get a message that the spell is unavailable

/fwb buff buff manually

/fwb init initiates the player-in-party/raid list
/fwb show shows the list of players to be buffed
/fwb prio X priorizes the player X (number or name)
/fwb del X deletes the player X (number or name)

/fwb single pin FWB to the current target. - resetted by /fwb init

The addon can only be enabled if you're a dwarfen priest.

The /fwb init is parsed at every change to your group, e.g. new or leaving members,
or if the raid leader reassigns groups.
If you priorized any player these changes are no longer processed.
Also, unreachable players are no longer moved to the end of the list.
It's not a bug, it's a feature :)
You have to re-init via /fwb init to switch processing back on.

You can make a macro containing /fwb buff and put it on an action bar,
or you can assign a key via your interface settings.
Spells can only be casted with mouse clicks or key presses, not via
entering /fwb buff in the chat window.

-- Any drawbacks?

The AddOn is tested, but has some quirks.

Sometimes you get an error message saying the spell can't be found.
Then try /fwb restart

Sometimes players that became successfully buffed are put at the end of the list.
The buff sometimes need some seconds to appear in the buff list, and the check if
the spell was successfull fails in the meantime.

There may be more drawbacks, if you find any please mail me at wow-dieck@jwr.de

-- Plans for the future

Solve all quirks...

Graphical interfaces to nicely manage your lists and options.
