Description

Profession Tracker (WoW Forever)

A side panel that attaches to the profession window and answers three questions: what should I craft to level, what can I train or buy right now, and where do I get it.

Built for World of Warcraft: Forever (beta 1.60.x). Covers all professions: Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Enchanting, Engineering, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Mining, Herbalism, Skinning, Cooking, First Aid and Fishing.

Features

Cheapest skill-up

Every recipe you can level with, ranked by expected cost per skill point: craft cost from reagent prices, minus the best sale value of the crafted item (vendor, or auction house after the 5% cut), divided by the skill-up chance (orange 100%, then the real yellow-to-gray formula). Recipes you have not learned yet but could get right now are included and tagged [train], [vendor] or [quest]. Shown as -cost or +profit per point, with a full breakdown in the tooltip.

Train now / Available from other sources / Coming up

What becomes available as your skill rises, with the trainer, vendor, quest or drop for each, and the next rank with its skill and level requirement.

Known recipes

Colored like the trade skill window, with "green at X / gray at Y" so you know when to move on.

Tooltips that do the homework

Reagents with bag counts and prices, cost per craft, source and location, color thresholds, and whether the data was confirmed on this client.

Map button

Recipes with a known trainer, vendor or quest giver get a button that pins the NPC on the world map.

Search

Type a recipe or a reagent: see every recipe with that name, or every recipe that uses that reagent, across all professions.

Right-click menu

Archive recipes you do not care about (they move to a folded Archived section), show on map, search the crafted item at the AH, check reagent prices.

Alerts

Chat line and on-screen toast when a recipe or rank becomes trainable, naming the nearest trainer.

Learns as you play

The built-in database is a starting point. Opening a trainer records skill requirements, the trainer's location and what they actually offer; opening a vendor records recipe vendors and real reagent prices; the profession window records when recipes change color. Learned data overrides the built-in data, and /pt export lets you share it so it can be folded into the next version. Built-in "trainer" recipes that a scanned trainer does not have are marked with a red ? instead of sending you to the wrong NPC.

Prices

Vendor prices for vendor goods. Auction prices from Auctionator, TSM or Auctioneer if you run one. Without them, a Scan reagent prices button on the auction house looks up only the reagents your professions use (one query each, a few seconds), no full scan.

Commands

  • /pt - standalone window with one tab per profession (this is where Fishing lives)
  • /pt options - settings
  • /pt scan - scan reagent prices (auction house open)
  • /pt offset - gap between the profession window and the panel
  • /pt export - learned data to paste or attach to a bug report
  • /pt debug - status report for bug reports

Known limitations

  • Beta data. The built-in database is vanilla-era and Forever has changed trainers, recipes and skill curves. The addon corrects itself from what it sees in-game and gets updated as players send exports, but expect some wrong sources until then.
  • Recipes you have not learned use built-in reagent lists; the game only describes reagents for recipes in your window.
  • Skill-up chance between yellow and gray needs the color thresholds; when unknown, an estimate is used and marked as such.
  • Auction prices from the built-in scan are kept for the session only.
  • English client. Recipes are matched by English name; other languages have not been tested.

Reporting bugs

Please include:

  1. Profession and skill level.
  2. What you expected and what happened.
  3. The output of /pt debug.
  4. /pt export if the problem is wrong data (a missing trainer, wrong skill requirement, recipe that is not where the addon says).
  5. Any Lua error, captured with BugSack + BugGrabber if possible.

Exports are the fastest way to get the database right for everyone, so they are very welcome even without a bug.
