PowerCollector - TokenTips

Helps you collect transmog by adding tooltips to items and tokens that can teach you new appearances

Confused about whether you still need an item from an armor tier token or from the catalyst? This addon provides a tooltip on tokens that lets you know which class/specializations have not yet been learned.

NEW - CATAYLST SUPPORT

This addon now also supports the Catalyst in The War Within (and Midnight!), as well as any appearances that would be unlocked by upgrading the gear piece. All gear that can be catalyzed for an appearance will show you whether or not you will learn the appearance. In addition, if you can upgrade it to get another appearance, that will be shown as well (on both tier sets and catalyzable items).

NEW - CONFIGURATION

The configuration settings can be found in the Options menu, under the Add-ons tab. There are three settings:

  • Hide Completed: Checking this box will hide any appearances you already know
  • Ignore Sources: Checking this box makes TokenTips not distinguish between different sources of the same appearance.
  • Maximum Lines: Controls how many different appearances will be shown. 0 indicates no maximum. If there are more appearances that available lines, priority is given to ones applicable to your current character and to ones you don't already know.

HOW IT WORKS

Below each token, you will now see a list of items that that token can become or can be used to buy, along with the class and spec required to obtain it. There will be a small ">" symbol to the left of items for your current class/spec. On the right you will see a status - it will say Missing if you don't have the appearance, or Complete if you've used the token to obtain the appearance.

The addon is smart enough to distinguish between warbound/BoE gear and soulbound gear; it only shows you relevant options.

APPEARANCE VS SOURCE

Some items can be learned from multiple sources - while you can transmog the appearance if you have it from any source, the name of the item will appear as the one you learned it from (you can change this by right clicking when transmogging an item and choosing the name if you have multiple available). You can change this in the configuration settings to not distinguish between different sources.

WHAT YOU SEE

The word "Appearance" will be shown in a paler green if you have the appearance, but only from another source not the one that the token gives you. So, for example, if you learned the Blackfang Battleweave Spaulders appearance from the item Underdweller's Spaulders, it will show up as [Appearance] until you learn it from the actual token item.

At the bottom of the list, you will see the word "Vendor" and either the word "Token" or a class specialization - this is the best value you can get from the token.

Shows the additional lines added below the typical item tooltip for an armor token, with the class, specialization, and status of each item

TOKENS WITH VENDOR

In a few Burning Crusade items, you may see three asterisks next to the class - this indicates the item must be bought at a vendor and you cannot click the token to get the item. For BC items, there is a vendor in Sunwell Plateau who will sell you PvP items for these tokens for instance.

Another example, highlighting the three asterisks to the right of the class name indicating the item must be bought instead of turning the token into the item.

CAVEATS

  • Raid tokens from Draenor and Legion raids generally don't drop anymore, replaced by drops of the actual class armor. The main place you will find them is on the Essence drops from the last bosses. These Essences sell for far more than the tier sets, so it is generally more worthwhile to sell the essences and rely on the boss drops for tier appearances.
  • Likewise, Firelands Normal still drops Shoulder and Head tokens, but you can buy these appearances from a vendor for cheap so they aren't worth transforming.
  • Catalyst sets are fairly well tested for TWW (all seasons) and Midnight (S1) appearances using my own current appearances. If you find any bugs, please report them, the new Catalyst-based transmog system is far more complicated.

COMING SOON!

  • Benthic, Black Empire, Korthian, and Broker's tokens
  • Dragonflight catalyst and tokens, plus Shadowlands catalyst
