PleaseHelp is a World of Warcraft PvP addon designed to make base-defense communication easier in battlegrounds and Battleground Blitz.

Instead of typing your location and enemy count while fighting, click a button to send a location-based callout.

Features

• Compact horizontal UI with Blizzard-style buttons and frames.

• Callout buttons for 1, 2, or 3 enemies, plus CLEAR.

• Objective recognition based primarily on minimap location text, with subzone text as a fallback.

• Korean and English callouts.

• Adjustable UI scale and left-button dragging, including from the callout buttons.

• A five-second cooldown after five callout attempts.

• Optional automatic raid-assistant promotion for battleground leaders.

Enemy counts are selected manually. PleaseHelp does not detect or count nearby enemies.

For Korean-region play, callouts use Raid Warning when you are the raid leader or an assistant, and Instance Chat otherwise. For US-region play, callouts use English in Instance Chat.

Region behavior can also be selected in the settings.

Automatic Assistant Promotion

When enabled, PleaseHelp requests assistant promotion for eligible online raid members while you are the instance raid leader inside a battleground, including Battleground Blitz.

• Runs only outside combat.

• Checks for members who join or reconnect later.

• Skips existing leaders and assistants.

• Does not run in outdoor raid groups, dungeons, raids, or arenas.

• Enabled by default; can be disabled in settings.

• Disabling it does not remove permissions already granted.

Promotion requests are rate-limited and retried a limited number of times. A request is not treated as successful until the roster reflects the new rank.

Getting Started

Install the PleaseHelp folder in:

World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns

Enable the addon, then type /ph to open its settings.

The default configuration is centered on screen, with preview mode off, movement unlocked, and automatic assistant promotion enabled.

When movement is unlocked, hold the left mouse button and drag the bar or its buttons to reposition it.

Commands

• /ph — Open settings.

• /ph test — Toggle the out-of-battleground preview. Preview mode does not send messages.

• /ph show — Restore the minimized bar while in a battleground or preview mode.

• /ph hide — Minimize the bar.

• /ph reset — Center the bar and clear its minimized state.

• /ph lock / /ph unlock — Lock or unlock movement.

• /ph region auto|kr|us — Select region behavior.

• /ph debug — Print diagnostic information.

• /ph selftest — Run built-in checks.

Design and Development

PleaseHelp began with a vertical layout. After testing it alongside Blizzard’s default UI, a compact horizontal layout proved more convenient for keeping essential controls within reach without taking up too much screen space.

Development has focused on battleground initialization, objective recognition, callout handling, and practical adjustments based on in-game use.

Limitations and Testing

PleaseHelp relies on location information supplied by the game. It does not determine your exact distance from a flag or capture radius.

Moving and resizing the UI are restricted during combat. If your objective or chat permissions change during combat, callouts are blocked until the addon can safely prepare updated macros after combat.

Version 0.9.9 passed 116 mocked Lua checks. These checks do not replace live testing of Blizzard’s secure execution, server chat delivery, or assistant promotion.

English/US-region behavior is implemented but has not yet been tested on a live US server. The new automatic promotion feature also requires further live verification.

When reporting an issue, please include the addon version, battleground, minimap location text, whether you were in combat, and any Lua error message.
