Description

PlateSmith

Design your own nameplates, see threat at a glance, and share your setup with one code.

PlateSmith replaces the look of your nameplates with one you build yourself in Blueprint Studio: a live preview of the plate, a tree of every part, and an inspector for whatever you click. No config files, no code, no reloads.

Type /ps to start.

Blueprint Studio

  • Move anything. Drag parts on the preview and they snap into place. Resize with the handles, nudge with the arrows, and rearrange the tree.
  • Parts that follow each other. Pin the level beside the name and it stays there whatever the name's length. Stack the bars and they close up when one has nothing to show.
  • Custom parts. Add up to 24: health, power or threat numbers, your own text ({health} / {health.max}, [if health.percent < 35]LOW[end]), or a bar, box or icon.
  • Style text and bars: fonts, outlines, shadows, boxes behind text, textures, backgrounds and borders. Save a look as a preset and reuse it.
  • Rules. Colour, blend, fade or hide a part when something is true: low health, tagged, elite, casting, or who has threat. Ready-made presets included.
  • Test values. Preview your rules on a low-health, elite or casting mob before you pull one.
  • Preset profiles to start from: PlateSmith, Classic, Sleek, Bold, Tank, Healer, Minimal and Dungeon.

Nameplates

  • Separate layouts for enemies, friendly players and friendly NPCs, in the world and in dungeons.
  • Friendly plates as names only or a full plate.
  • Cast bar with spell icon, name and time left.
  • Buff and debuff rows you can shape: count, size, spacing, direction, cooldown swipe, time left.
  • Level, elite and rare marks, raid marks, TAGGED, guild, target of target, and quest icons (with optional Questie support and a quest-item loot bag).

Threat

  • Threat on every plate: your threat %, how far ahead of the next player you are (+125), and raw threat, coloured by state: you hold it, you're losing it, you're about to pull it, or someone else has it.
  • Threat windows: up to five meter-style windows. A Threat meter shows your group's threat on your target; a Tank list shows every enemy and who holds it. Eight themes.
  • Attach to Blizzard's damage meter: drag a window onto any side and it follows the meter.
  • Click a row to spotlight that mob's plate (glow, arrow, chevrons or box).
  • Tank detection per character: group role, then bear form, stances and similar, then spec.

Share your plates

Export your whole setup as a Blueprint share code and import anyone else's. Import checks everything first and lets you choose what to replace.

Built to be safe and light

  • PlateSmith never touches Blizzard's own frames, and never guesses at values the game hides in combat or in instances. If something is hidden, it simply isn't shown.
  • Each plate redraws at most once a frame, and only the parts that changed.
  • Colour-blind friendly and high-contrast options.

Known limits

  • The game hides some values in combat and in instances. PlateSmith never guesses: a hidden value isn't shown, and a rule that depends on it doesn't apply.
  • While aura details are hidden, the debuff row is the game's own aura frame, placed by PlateSmith but not restyled.
  • Clicking a threat window row spotlights the plate; addons can't target mobs from a click.
  • Aura rows can't filter by spell or dispel type yet.
  • English only for now.
