Piph’s Messenger

Piph’s Messenger is a radiant, priest-themed messaging addon for World of Warcraft. Designed for a gnome priest who loves the color white, it transforms whispers and selected chat channels into an elegant instant-messenger interface inspired by classic desktop messengers.

Built as an original, copyright-clean addon, Piph’s Messenger uses its own code, artwork, interface design, icons, and custom notification sounds.

Main Features

Tabbed Conversations

Private conversations appear as tabs inside one shared messenger window, allowing you to quickly switch between active whispers without opening multiple windows.

• Normal and Battle.net whispers
• Unified Battle.net and linked-character conversations
• Realm names removed from regular whisper tab labels
• Unread-message glow
• Automatic tab switching only when you are not typing
• Tabs remain fully visible without fading
• Tab sorting by creation time, recent activity, or alphabetically
• Optional Tab-key conversation switching

Player Action Menu

Right-click a conversation tab to access useful player actions:

• Invite
• Add Friend
• Ignore
• Copy Name
• Close Conversation

Whisper is intentionally excluded because the selected tab is already the active whisper conversation.

Dedicated Chat Channels

Piph’s Messenger can display selected public and group chat channels in dedicated tabs, including:

• Guild
• Officer
• Party
• Raid
• Instance
• Say
• World Chat
• Custom Channels
• Community Chat

Standard World of Warcraft slash commands remain available, and the addon returns to the previously selected general chat channel instead of forcing every message into Whisper.

Message History

Keep a configurable record of previous conversations.

• Enable or disable message history
• Preview history inside conversation windows
• Choose how many messages appear
• Set the maximum stored messages per conversation
• Automatically remove messages after a selected number of days
• Open the Message Archive from the messenger toolbar

Notification Sounds

Choose custom messenger-style sounds for incoming and outgoing messages.

Included sound themes:

• Radiant Message
• Dawn Arrival
• Evening Departure
• Soft Send

Different sounds can be assigned to whispers and supported chat channels, with preview controls available in the options menu.

Message Filtering

Control which messages Piph’s Messenger displays.

• Optional blocked-word and phrase filtering
• Separate whisper and channel controls
• Hide enabled conversations from Blizzard’s default chat
• Protected Blizzard text is left untouched when it cannot be safely processed
• Messaging-lockdown protection prevents restricted information from causing errors

Radiant Priest Design

The interface combines white-priest imagery, celestial light, gold details, deep blue accents, and custom fantasy artwork.

The Options window uses its own dramatic Last Light Against the Void background.

Piph’s Messenger includes optional behavior controls for situations where you want fewer distractions.

• Control automatic conversation switching
• Prevent incoming messages from interrupting while typing
• Configure behavior during combat
• Restore visible windows after combat
• Keep conversations available without stealing keyboard focus

Minimap and Addon Compartment Access

Open Piph’s Messenger from its custom minimap icon or the World of Warcraft addon compartment.

• Left-click to open the messenger
• Right-click for options
• Minimap icon can be enabled or disabled

Compatibility and Safety

Piph’s Messenger is designed for modern World of Warcraft Retail.

The addon avoids interfering with protected Blizzard functionality. Secret or restricted chat values are not stored or processed, and deferred messages are handled safely after messaging restrictions end.

Commands

Use the addon’s slash command to open Piph’s Messenger while keeping normal Blizzard chat commands available.

Commands such as /g, /o, /p, /raid, /instance, and /w continue to use World of Warcraft’s standard chat routing.
