PickItRight

PickItRight is a World of Warcraft: TBC Classic addon that analyzes your class, race, and talent spec to tell you whether a looted, group-rolled, or quest-reward item is a real upgrade over your equipped gear — never by item level.

PickItRight is a real-time gear-decision addon for World of Warcraft: TBC Classic (Anniversary). It detects your class, race, and active talent spec automatically — since TBC has no official "active spec" flag — using a talent-point heuristic, and derives your role (Tank, Healer, Melee, or Caster) from it. It reads an item's actual stats via the game's item API rather than relying on item level, including stats that only appear in "Equip:" tooltip lines (which the API itself doesn't expose), and scores them against a community-sourced, class/spec-specific stat-weight table before ever comparing anything. Before scoring, it filters out items your class can't use — wrong armor material for your training level, untrained weapon types, or stats itemized for a different role — so you're never told to equip something you literally can't or shouldn't wear.

The verdict shows up directly where you'd look for it: the loot window, group Need/Greed rolls, quest reward screens (both when accepting/turning in and when browsing the quest log away from the NPC), and your bags. It compares the candidate against whatever's already equipped in that exact slot, not just an absolute score, and reports "Equip it," "Not an upgrade," or a specific rejection reason (wrong armor type, untrained weapon, off-role stats) — plus, when it is an upgrade, a short line naming the stat that drives the recommendation and why it matters. It never shows a raw numeric score, only the verdict and reasoning behind it.
