v0.1.1-forever
What's new
Changelog
0.1.1 - 2026-09-21
The interface is ported from PetScout rather than rewritten, and event-gated pets say so.
Changed
theme.lua,widgets.lua,row.luaand the guide page are ported from retail; they were missing entirely, which is why nothing looked like PetScout.window.luaandtracker.luaare ports too, at 915 and 659 lines against the 470 and 240 they were.- The minimap button sits on the minimap rim: its radius comes from
Minimap:GetWidth()as retail does, instead of a hardcoded 80 that put it inside the map. - The map filter bar is retail's: one menu button in a 390x34 frame, anchored inside the map canvas, draggable with its position remembered. It used to overflow its own background and hang below the map over the chat.
- The tracker is readable: the opacity lands on the backdrop colour, not on the frame, so it no longer dims its own text. It can be dragged from anywhere on it.
- The pet card holds a live 3D model instead of an icon you had to hover.
- The zone picker counts each zone's own pets, so cities no longer show their neighbour's.
Added
- Event-gated pets name their event and whether it is running: 11 of the 112, across the
Darkmoon Faire, Winter Veil, Hallow's End, Love is in the Air, the Midsummer Fire Festival
and the Lunar Festival. The windows come from the client's own
Holidaystable. - Source lines name the NPC, container or recipe - "Sold by Donni Anthania", "Found in Gaily Wrapped Present" - for 57 of the 62 pets whose source is known.
- The window's position, size, source filter and sort direction, and the tracker's position, survive a login on the beta through the settings macro.
Fixed
- 24 pets lost their source in the generator because it only recorded one when the source also had coordinates. Source coverage went from 38 to 62 of 112.
- Pets showed no icon at all when unowned; the icon now ships with the data.
- The item that teaches a pet was never named, because the addon called a
GetItemInfoglobal that does not exist on this client. - A row in a single-zone view no longer lists the other zones a pet is found in.
0.1.0 - 2026-09-21
First release of the Forever port of PetScout.
Added
- Pet list window (
/psf): every companion pet of a zone, owned or missing, with a zone picker, mode and source filters, and a search box. - World map pins with clustering and continent projection, plus a missing-count badge on each zone of a continent.
- Filter bar on the world map, sharing its state with the pins.
- Movable on-screen tracker of what is still missing in the current zone.
- 3D model preview beside the tooltip.
- Minimap button, addon compartment entry, options panel and slash commands.
- Bundled data generated from the Forever client database (build
1.60.1.69913) andwowhead.com/forever/: 112 species, 101 with a teaching item, 62 with a known source, 38 with map positions over 23 zones. - Settings survive the beta SavedVariables read-back bug through a backup macro.
- Learns positions as you play: targeting an NPC the data names as a pet's source records
where you stand, and
/psf exportwrites those spots out to contribute back. - Scheduled checks for a new client build, for Lua API drift, and for newly published pet sources on Wowhead.
Known limits
- 50 of the 112 species have no known source yet and 74 have no map position. Most of those are the pets Forever adds, whose data is not published anywhere yet. None of the five Forever-original zones has a single coordinate.
BattlePetSpeciesships its source and description text empty for every species, so the journal has no source text of its own to fall back on.- Positions you learn in game live in SavedVariables only, which the beta client does not
read back at login.
/psf exportis the durable path for them.
