Pet Hex

Pet Hex turns your World of Warcraft battle-pet collection into a tactical hexagonal card game inspired by card-capture games such as Triple Triad.

Every battle-pet species is assigned a deterministic Pet Hex card with six directional values, a family, and a rarity. Build a six-card deck from pets you own, then play against computer opponents or challenge another player who has Pet Hex installed.

Battle-pet collection

• Browse Pet Hex cards generated from Battle Pet Journal species.
• View each pet's six directional values, power score, rarity, family, ownership, and 3D model.
• Search, filter, sort, and page through the collection.
• Add owned pets directly to a selected deck.

Card values are generated from the species ID, so the same species always produces the same Pet Hex card for every player.

Deck management

• Create, rename, duplicate, and delete decks.
• Arrange six cards in an exact slot order.
• Import and export decks with shareable deck codes.
• See deck validity and the reason a deck cannot be used.
• Create special decks for custom games that allow duplicates and relaxed rarity limits.

A standard deck contains exactly six different species and may include up to three Rare, two Epic, and one Legendary card.

Matches

• Play on a ten-space hexagonal board.
• Compare values on every connected side when placing a card.
• Capture adjacent enemy cards and finish with control of the most cards to win.
• Play against random AI or predefined opponents with different behaviours.
• Challenge a custom deck by importing its deck code.
• Preview captures before committing a move.
• Review match results, captures, duration, and optional move history.

Player duels

• Challenge another player who has Pet Hex installed.
• Review the proposed rules and choose a deck before locking in.
• Use portrait emotes during a match.
• Disable incoming challenges or block individual players.
• Detect cancelled matches, forfeits, and interrupted connections.

Both players need a compatible version of Pet Hex. Addon communication is subject to World of Warcraft's normal communication restrictions.

Getting started

1. Enter /pethex or /ph to open the main menu.
2. Open Collection to inspect the cards generated for your battle pets.
3. Open Deck Manager and create a deck containing six cards.
4. Choose Play, select a valid deck and opponent, and configure any optional rules.
5. Select a card from your hand, then select an empty board space to play it.

Slash commands

• /pethex or /ph - open the Pet Hex menu.
• /pethex decks - open the Deck Manager.
• /pethex challenge PlayerName - send a standard PvP challenge.
• /pethex duel PlayerName - send a standard PvP challenge.
• /pethex pvpcancel - cancel the active PvP challenge or session.
• /pethex help - list available commands.

Installation

1. Download and extract the archive.
2. Place the PetHex folder in World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/.
3. Launch World of Warcraft and enable Pet Hex from the AddOns menu.
