One World Translator

One World Translator adds offline chat translations to World of Warcraft: Forever Beta. When it recognizes a message, it displays a translated line beneath the original. You can also choose to hide the original when a reliable translation is available. The addon needs no online translation service, API key, or companion application.

Translation between languages

The addon supports 24 language options as both source and target languages: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish (Spain and Latin America), Turkish, Russian, Korean, Portuguese (Portugal and Brazil), Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Czech, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Greek, and simplified and traditional Chinese.

This means a supported German group search can be shown in Chinese, or a supported Russian message can be shown in Greek. With automatic source selection, you do not have to know which language another player is using. You can also select a source language manually.

Translation depends on what the offline dictionaries and chat patterns recognize. Support for a language does not mean that every message written in that language can be translated.

What the addon recognizes

One World Translator focuses on messages relevant to playing WoW, including group searches, dungeon names and abbreviations, roles, common WoW terms, professions, trainers, and short chat expressions. It recognizes terms such as gear, BiS, and DPS, as well as shortcuts such as ty, thx, bye, cu, and brb.

Known simplified and traditional Chinese terms are included. For example, 死亡矿井 can be shown as Todesminen when German is selected. Supported group searches can be translated as complete messages, with their dungeon, roles, and player counts carried into the target language.

Item, quest, and other supported links remain clickable. Their visible names change only when the addon knows a matching translation or the WoW client can provide one in its own language. Translated quest links retain a distinct link color.

Settings and use

Open Options → AddOns → One World Translator to choose which chat channels to translate, set the target and optional source language, and pick a color for translated text. The target language can follow your WoW client automatically. You can also decide whether successfully translated messages should still show their original text. Messages without a reliable translation remain visible.

Type /oneworld options to open the settings. To see examples in game, try /oneworld test, /oneworld test fr, /oneworld test ru, or /oneworld test chat.

Important limitations

One World Translator is not a general-purpose translator. It translates known WoW terms and supported message patterns across its languages; it does not translate arbitrary conversations. An unfamiliar sentence will usually remain unchanged, even if it contains a recognizable WoW word. Some short expressions are shared by several languages, so the source language cannot always be identified.

Coverage also varies by topic. Not every item, quest, zone, or ability has a verified name in every target language. When a name cannot be translated reliably, the addon may keep its original or English name. The addon is still in development, and its dictionaries will grow with real chat examples.

Feedback is welcome. If a WoW-related message is missed or translated incorrectly, please share the original message, your selected target language, what the addon displayed, and what you expected.
