Description
OfficerAnnounce Version1.3.1 is a lightweight officer utility that automatically posts a configurable announcement to guild chat on a timer. It’s built for raid leaders and officer teams who want consistent reminders without babysitting macros.
What it does
- Posts your announcement to /g at a set interval (1–15 minutes).
- Automatically adds the prefix
Announcement:to every message. - Includes a clean standalone config window (no Blizzard Settings panel).
- Shows remaining characters based on WoW’s 255-character guild chat cap, already accounting for the prefix.
- One-file core, tiny footprint, no libraries.
How to use
Open the UI:
/oa — opens/closes the OfficerAnnounce window.
Commands:
/oa test — sends your configured announcement immediately.
/oa toggle — turns automatic announcements on/off.
Notes
- Only players with officer-level guild permissions (invite/promote/remove/officer notes) can send automatic announcements.
- Messages are trimmed automatically if they exceed the guild chat limit.
Supported versions

- Classic Era
- MoP Classic / other Classic branches
(Separate TOCs included for multi-game support.)
FAQ
Q: Why won’t it announce for me?
A: You need officer-level guild permissions. If you can’t invite/promote/remove members or edit officer notes, the addon won’t post automatically.
Q: Does it work during combat?
A: Yes. Sending to guild chat isn’t blocked by combat lockdown.
Q: Can I remove the prefix?
A: Not currently. The prefix is enforced by design to keep announcements consistent.
