NoPolitics - Political Chat Filter

NoPolitics is a lightweight client-side chat filter for players who would rather keep real-world political discussion out of their World of Warcraft chat.

The addon automatically hides messages containing political names, phrases and terminology from your own chat windows while leaving everyone else completely unaffected.

NoPolitics does not report players, modify their messages, add them to Ignore, or interfere with server-side chat. It simply filters matching messages locally before they appear in your chat window.

Normal vs Strict Mode

Normal Mode is enabled by default.

Very explicit political names and phrases are filtered immediately, while more ambiguous terms generally require multiple political indicators within the same message.

This helps prevent ordinary game discussion from being filtered unnecessarily.

For more aggressive filtering:

/nopolitics strict

Return to the default behavior with:

/nopolitics normal

Commands

Display available commands.

/nopolitics on
Enable filtering.

/nopolitics off
Disable filtering.

Use the standard filtering mode.

Use aggressive filtering.

/nopolitics add <phrase>
Add your own blocked phrase.

Example:

/nopolitics add example phrase

/nopolitics remove <phrase>
Remove a custom blocked phrase.

/nopolitics allow <phrase>
Add a phrase to your allow list.

/nopolitics unallow <phrase>
Remove an allow-list entry.

/nopolitics list
Display your custom blocked and allowed phrases.

/nopolitics status
Display the current mode and number of messages filtered.

/nopolitics resetstats
Reset the filtered-message counter.

Short command alias:

/nopol

Privacy / moderation

NoPolitics only changes your local chat display.

It does not:

• report players
• mute players server-side
• modify messages
• send information anywhere
• affect what other players see

Limitations

No keyword-based filter can perfectly understand context.

Strict Mode in particular may occasionally hide an innocent message containing political terminology.

If this happens, you can add the phrase to your allow list.

Existing messages already visible in chat are not removed.
