Noctis Guides Example Route Pack v1.9.2
What's new
MissionAccomplished 1.9.2
Mostly a release about features that were built and then never reachable, and about numbers that were wrong in ways nothing would have told you. No art or layout changes, so the 1.9.0 gallery still describes what these packages look like.
The party arrows were never off, they were never on
Sharing your guide destination with your party defaulted to off, per character. That reads as the cautious choice and it was in fact the useless one: both people in a party had to find the same buried switch before either saw anything, so in practice the feature shipped, worked, and was never once seen by anybody.
It is on by default now. What goes on the wire is unchanged: a single destination, to at most four people you deliberately grouped with, never your position and never your quest counts. The switch is still there, one row above the arrows it controls, and unchecking it still withdraws your destination without hiding anyone else's.
Flipping the default alone would not have worked. The settings layer only
consults a schema default when the caller asks for no fallback of its own, and
the reader passed a literal false, so the schema's value could never win. That
is now the kind of mistake a test catches, because it is a change that looks
applied and is not.
Bankert's asks about gear you have outgrown, and you can argue with it
The offer of outgrown common gear existed in 1.9.1, with a dialog and tests, and was wired to no event at all. Standing at a vendor with an armed offer did nothing. It fires now, after the grey sell run rather than into it.
It is a list rather than a yes/no question. Each row has its own checkbox, its icon, and on hover the item's own tooltip with Mahler's Armory's comparison panel, so you can check the verdict rather than take it. Two kinds of row arrive unticked, because the safe answer should be the default: anything soulbound, which cannot be bought back once the vendor's buyback list rolls over, and anything Auctionator says is worth at least twice as much at auction.
That last one came from a real case: the dialog offered a Walking Stick for one silver while Auctionator's own line, two inches away, said twenty eight silver fifty nine. Recommending that sale is worse than saying nothing.
Only with Auctionator installed. There is no other source for an auction price, and a guess presented as a price is worse than silence.
Bankert's can also now tell that a shield in a hunter's bag is dead weight for the life of that character, and it needs no scorer to do it. It is careful about the difference between "cannot wear this" and "cannot wear this YET": a level 14 hunter's mail is not junk, it is what they wear at 40. Blizzard moved mail and plate proficiency to level 1 in a later expansion, so any modern source gets that backwards on this client.
Noctis picks quests up as well as handing them in
Auto turn-in has been there a while; accepting had not. One control does both now, on by default, and it accepts only quests your active route names. Not every quest the NPC offers, because those NPCs routinely offer three and the route wants one, and a full twenty slot quest log is a wall you clear by hand. Escort and group invitations are never answered.
Hiding the navigation HUD asks first and tells you where to find it again. It is the one navigation choice that removes the control you would use to undo it.
Every dialog in the suite now wears the suite's own frame and buttons instead of Blizzard's default chrome.
Two numbers in the gear scorer were wrong
A hunter could be told to wear an eighteen armour cloth piece over forty eight armour leather. Armour was denominated in the tank profile's stamina and then scaled by a role share, which left every other profile's armour weight five point seven times too small against the stamina sitting next to it. It was a units mistake rather than a matter of taste, and the tank profile, the one that was already right, comes out bit for bit identical after the correction.
Separately, weapon damage was counted six times over: a factor of six sat on top of a profile weight that was already the entire conversion, so the scorer believed one point of weapon DPS was worth forty two Strength.
Both forced the score reference table to be measured again, and it was, twice, once per cause, so each is attributable.
Fixing the armour weight does not by itself stop a hunter being offered cloth, and it should not: at low level the cloth genuinely has about one percent more effective health, and forcing the scorer to disagree would need a number that is simply false. What stops it is a rule, in the auto-equip guard rather than in the score, since that is the path that binds an item to you permanently. The score still tells you the truth, because a cloth robe really is the best thing some characters own.
Also fixed
- A Gear Comparison panel stayed on screen for an item that had just been sold.
- "Grizzly Jerkin of Nature's Wrath" and every other Wrath suffix showed no comparison at all, because the school name sits between the number and the words the reader was looking for, and one unreadable line suppressed the whole comparison on an otherwise readable item.
- Suite settings had lost the "Mark best vendor reward" row entirely, to a list that was written out by hand four entries long.
- Ten gear profiles score a stat they list as a priority at zero, silently. That is not fixed, because none of the sixteen weights can be derived honestly yet, but it is now written down and tested so it can only shrink.
As with every release here, the eleven package versions move together to 1.9.2.
