Description

The actual retail UI, running in Classic.

Not a reskin. Not an "inspired by." New Era rebuilds the modern WoW interface piece by piece from retail's own layout data. So we capture the same sizes, same artwork, same behaviour on Classic Era, Hardcore, and now TBC Anniversary.

If you've ever gone back to your retail character and thought "why can't Classic just look like this" — this is the addon.

Things no other Classic UI addon does

  • Import your retail layout. New Era's Edit Mode reads retail's own layout format. Export your layout on retail, paste the string in Classic, done. Now your bars, frames and trackers land exactly where you had them. Full Edit Mode otherwise: drag anything, snap to grid, per-frame settings, saved layouts.
  • Retail nameplates, properly. All of retail's nameplate styles and options such as cast bars, debuffs on plates, threat colouring, target highlight — with a live preview while you configure. Not "nameplates that look modern": the retail ones.
  • The Adventure Guide, for vanilla. A full dungeon and raid journal that Classic never had with boss abilities, loot tables with real drop rates, boss portraits, and dungeon entrances pinned on the world map.
  • A modern Auction House. Buy, Sell and Favorites tabs, sortable results, clean item lists. Actually pleasant to use on an Era economy.
  • Modern quest tracking on the map. Retail-style quest areas shaded on the map and minimap, click-to-track objectives, a floating quest item button, and an on-screen arrow to your tracked objective.

And the rest of the interface, too

  • Unit frames, party/raid frames, cast bars, buffs and debuffs
  • Action bars with retail artwork, paging, and full Edit Mode placement
  • Cooldown manager and boss ability timeline (uses BigWigs if you have it)
  • Combined bags with search and one-click sort, modern bank, equipment manager
  • Modern character panel, inspect, spellbook, talents (with build presets), professions
  • World map, calendar with raid resets, achievements, mail, merchant, trade, group finder
  • Modern tooltips, chat, minimap, micro menu… if you can open it, it's been rebuilt

Only want some of it?

Everything above is a module you can switch off. Love your current nameplates? Keep them. It detects Questie and BigWigs/DBM and integrates instead of double-drawing. Classic players like what they like; take the Adventure Guide and the Player Frames and leave the rest.

Hardcore-safe by design

On a Hardcore character a broken addon can kill you. New Era is built to fail soft: if anything errors, frames degrade to a working state.

Compatibility

  • Classic Era / Hardcore (1.15) and TBC Anniversary
  • Optional: Questie, BigWigs/DBM (auto-detected and integrated)
  • Report bugs and requests in the comments or on the issue tracker
