What's new
Version 2.0.17 - Fonts & Sounds, Ready check, Privacy, error console
Restart the game after updating (a new file was added). A /reload is not enough.
NEW
- Fonts & Sounds (nether://media, linked from the home page). One choice for every Nether addon, shown at once with no reload (needs NetherUI_Media, which comes with the NetherUI download):
- Fonts for text, titles and numbers, each picked from a list drawn in its own font: the game's four and nine in NetherUI_Media (Atkinson Hyperlegible, Alegreya Sans, Barlow Condensed, PT Sans Narrow, Cinzel, Philosopher, Poppins and their bold faces). Fonts other addons share through LibSharedMedia are listed too.
- Text size (85% to 125%), outline (none, thin, thick) and shadow (on, off), each with "the addon's own".
- Ready looks: Readable (Atkinson Hyperlegible, larger, with a soft shadow), Clean, High fantasy, or the addons' own. A live preview shows the result, with a box to try your own words in it.
- Sounds by what happened: alert, warning, discovery, arrival, quest, message and success. Each can stay the addon's own, be one of six new Nether sounds, a game sound, a LibSharedMedia sound, be read aloud by the game's text to speech, or be silent, with a Test button. Plus the sound channel, quiet hours (warnings can still come through), a speech voice, speed and volume, "Test every sound", and a master mute for every Nether sound.
- All of it is in the home page's search ("dyslexia", "bigger text", "mute", "quiet"...).
- Ready check (nether://ready, linked from the home page). Before you head out: what you carry and what you are short of for your class and level: food and drink, healing and mana potions, a flask or elixirs and Well Fed food for raids, your class's reagents for the spells your level has, ammunition and pet food for hunters, your most worn piece of gear and free bag slots. Questing, Dungeon and Raid ask for more of each. A line you are short on has a Shop button that opens NetherGoblin's Supplies shelf for it at the auction house. Read from your bags and gear only.
- Privacy (nether://privacy): what each Nether addon shares with other players, when, how to turn it off and what it does with what others send. Your installed addons come first; those with no switch of their own are marked.
- Footprint (nether://footprint): each Nether addon's memory right now and its size on disk, sorted by memory, size or name, with the total against all your addons. "Measure again" (not in combat).
- Family error console. Every Lua error and blocked action in your UI, from any addon, recorded and grouped by addon, noisiest first, at the top of the Diagnostics page (/as errors, /as errors all, /as errors clear).
- The same error repeated (even with a different number or name in it) is one line with a count, with a short id ([NS-1A2B3C]) that stays the same after a /reload. Floods are capped at 10 a second.
- The report masks your character name, realm and GUIDs, so it is safe to paste.
- Works alongside BugGrabber/BugSack (it reads what BugGrabber catches instead of competing for the error handler). Without them every error still goes on to Blizzard's handler as before.
- A new error prints one line in chat, never in combat, at most one every 10 seconds. Turn it off under Settings > Advanced ("Tell me about new errors in chat").
- Addons can add their own caught errors with NetherSuite.ReportError(addon, message).
- For plugins: NetherSuite.SearchSettings(text) and NetherSuite.OpenSetting(key) (NetherSearch's Archive uses them).
FIXED
- Every family setting is in the search, and stays there. NetherSuite asks each family addon for its settings and pages again whenever its window opens (at most every 5 seconds per addon), so anything an addon adds is found without changing NetherSuite. It waits for the window to open the first time, so no addon builds its options window at login just to be searched.
- A settings page an addon adds shows on its NetherSuite page by itself (NetherUI's new Camera page was missing).
- Key bindings are searchable (NetherMaps' arrow, trail map and rare keys).
- Choices show their names in results ("Large", not "0.9").
- A family addon that is installed but not loaded, or switched off, keeps its banner on the home page (Campfire Chronicles showed a question mark). An addon can name another banner with an X-Nether-Banner line in its TOC.
- The home page's links wrap onto a second line in a narrow window instead of running past its edge.
LICENCE
- Plugins and addons that work alongside NetherSuite stay welcome, but changing NetherSuite's own files in any way (by hand, by script or with an AI) is not allowed. See LICENSE.txt, section 2.
