What's new

Mythic Key Roulette 1.1.11

Changed

  • The bet-open chat message is clearer for a first-time player. It now sequences the two actions in order — "type 1 in guild chat to enter. Once entries close, type /roll 10000 to draw your number!" — instead of naming the roll command before it's even usable (rolling is rejected earlier than that) or leaving it as a vague "everyone rolls". It also drops the unnecessary "1-": /roll 100 and /roll 1-100 produce the identical system message, so it's just less to type on a big stake. The channel named always matches where the bet was actually announced — guild, party or raid chat — never a generic "group".
  • The bet scope now defaults to wherever you actually are. In a party or raid, the creation screen suggests Group instead of always defaulting to Guild; solo or not grouped, it suggests Guild. It's a suggestion, not a lock — pick the other one by hand and it stays picked until the creation screen starts fresh again.
  • The bet ledger no longer tracks payment confirmation. The mutual "both sides confirm" system required both the winner and the loser to have the addon, and only whispered addon messages could carry that confirmation — with either side missing it, a bet stayed "pending" forever with no way out, in a feature specifically built to work without the addon. The addon's own stated position was already "it draws the rolls and shows who owes whom, the trade happens between players" — tracking whether that trade happened contradicted it. The ledger still shows who won, from whom, and how much; settling up is between the two players, same as always.

Added

  • The update notice now works over a party/raid too, not just the guild. The footer's "newer version available" already existed, but it only learned about updates from guildmates announcing their keystone. The same version tag now rides on the group's keystone messages, so testing with a friend who isn't in your guild works the same way.
  • The classic quote now follows the addon's language, not always English. The on-screen text of any WoW line is localized even when the voice audio isn't dubbed, so this actually matches what the player sees in-game more closely than a fixed English line did. Ten more quotes added — heroes and villains both — in all three languages. Two ("For the Alliance!" / "For the Horde!") only enter the draw for the matching faction. A handful of older ones (Illidan's other line aside, Ragnaros, the Lich King, Deathwing, C'Thun, Leeroy Jenkins, the Peon, the Kobold) stay English-only for now: translating a line built entirely around its exact wording, like "At least I have chicken," risks killing the joke without a verified source.
  • The quote is capped at two lines, guaranteed by the game itself — anything longer gets the standard "..." truncation instead of growing the popup or spilling past its edge. Two of the added quotes (Yogg-Saron's, Varok Saurfang's) were long enough to wrap into four or five lines and were dropped rather than shown truncated.
  • A classic WoW quote in the space below the affixes — "You are not prepared!" from Illidan, "LEEROOOOOY JENKINS!", "Frostmourne hungers.", and half a dozen more, epic and funny mixed, in quotes with the NPC's name. Never repeats the same one twice in a row. English on purpose: none of these lines were ever dubbed, so the original is what everyone actually remembers hearing. Illidan's voice line still plays every time regardless of which quote shows — this only adds the text, it doesn't touch the sound.
  • The result popup shows the exact affixes for that key's level, centered below the dungeon art, with the window closed. Same tooltip as the main bar — name, description, and the tactical tip when we have one. The game has no API that takes a level and returns its affixes, but a keystone's own item link carries them — the addon learns a level's affixes the moment it sees a real link at that level (your own keystone, or one someone links in chat) and remembers it for the rest of the session. A level nobody has shown yet falls back to this week's full affix set.
  • Two more verified affix tips: Ascendant (the orb also dies if you strip its shield with an offensive dispel, not just an interrupt) and Voidbound (the Void Emissary cannot be interrupted at all — it only dies to damage, the opposite of most players' first instinct). Oblivion was researched too and left out on purpose: it's a straightforward positioning race with nothing hidden worth adding.
  • A tactical tip on the affix tooltip, for affixes we've verified against a real source — starting with Xal'atath's Bargain: Devour, the "everyone gets a stacking debuff" affix where most groups wait on the healer even though any defensive dispel clears it too, or just a big enough heal. It also carries a Snare tag, confirmed from the spell's own data, so anything that clears roots or snares on yourself (a Druid shapeshifting, for one) removes the whole thing too — not just the speed penalty. Silent for affixes we haven't researched yet, on purpose: a wrong tactical tip is worse than none.
  • The role buttons remember your last pick, per character, with a gold border — a suggestion, never an auto sign-up. Click a different one and it works exactly as before; the border just saves you from re-clicking your usual role every run.
  • A list of the open guild runs, on the left of the window, mirroring the sign-ups panel on the right. Each row shows who opened it, the minimum keystone, item level and score, how many have signed up by role, and the time left — click a row to open that run. The arrows moved you between runs without telling you anything about them; the requirements were already known to your client, they were just never shown.

Fixed

  • A run announced by someone else could yank you off the run-creation screen mid-input. The same "no run in focus" state that means "nobody's created one yet" also meant "I'm filling in my own fields," and an incoming announcement treated both as an invitation to take over the view. Removed — the open-runs list is how you discover other runs now, so nothing needs to grab your screen for you. As a side effect, this could have undone the fix right above it: cancel your run at the same moment someone else's run re-announces (every 30s), and you'd land back on their run instead of the creation screen.
  • The Guild tab's "something's happening" highlight depended on which run was in focus, not on whether any run existed — a side effect of the same auto-focus this release removes. It now lights up whenever a run is open in the guild, regardless of what you're currently looking at.
  • Cancelling your own run could leave the Create button hidden for good. Focus()'s last-resort fallback — grab any other run still known, from a guildmate or a leftover /mkrdev test run — silently took over the view after your run was forgotten, and the panel only shows Create when no run is in focus. It now returns to the creation screen instead, unless you are signed up to another run yourself.
  • With someone else's run open, the Create button disappeared: the panel treated "I am looking at a run" as "I cannot open one", so the second person in a guild could not start theirs. The run selector now ends in a New run position whenever you do not already have one of your own.
