What's new

Changelog

0.4.0

First public release.

Muster is a dark unit-frame suite built on oUF. It covers every frame the game has, party and raid included, and it requires no other addon: oUF is bundled inside it.

Frames

  • Player, pet, pet's target, target, target-of-target, focus, focus target, boss 1-8, arena 1-5.
  • Party and raid through secure headers, with member spacing, column spacing and a vertical or horizontal growth direction.
  • Blizzard's own unit frames and compact raid frames are hidden for you.

Look

  • Two colour styles with a live toggle. Colour mode fills current health with the class colour. Dark mode is the default and reads in reverse: current health stays dark and the missing portion carries a dimmed class tint, which you can adjust from 0 to 1.
  • Health, power and cast bar textures, editable colour palettes for class, reaction, power and dispel types, and font choice. LibSharedMedia is picked up when another addon provides it, and ignored when it doesn't.
  • Bar fills interpolate smoothly by default. Turn it off under Appearance.

Configuration

  • The options panel shows a live frame you can click. Select a widget by clicking it, drag it to move it, and every change lands on the real frames as you make it.
  • Each unit gets the same five sub-tabs: Frame, Bars, Auras, Text, Indicators.
  • Bars sit in one ordered stack. Left-drag the grip to reorder, right-drag to resize. The cast bar and class resource strip can be pulled out of the stack entirely and given their own position and width.
  • Named profiles, bound per character and optionally per specialisation. Import and export work with no library installed.

What's on the frames

  • Heal prediction, damage absorbs and heal absorbs.
  • Class resources for every spec that has one: combo points, runes, stagger, chi, holy power, essence, soul shards, arcane charges, soul fragments. The strip can hide itself at zero.
  • Dispel highlight, threat border and mouseover border. They draw as concentric rings by default so more than one can show at once, or you can collapse them into a single border and set which state wins.
  • Role, leader, assistant, main tank, main assist, PvP, phase, ready check, resurrect and summon indicators.
  • Cast bars with an icon, duration text, the spell's target, and a hold time so an interrupt stays visible instead of vanishing like a finished cast.
  • Optional cast bar tinting that shows whether your own interrupt is off cooldown. Off by default, since most players kick off nameplates.
  • Out-of-range fading on any unit, including target.
  • Private aura anchors, which is how Blizzard now draws encounter debuffs on allies.
  • Buff and debuff containers filtered by category: everything, yours only, cancelable, big defensive, external defensive, dispellable, crowd control, or raid. Plus a global blacklist by spell ID, managed with /muster blacklist.
  • Names truncate on character boundaries rather than bytes, so a non-ASCII name never breaks into a replacement glyph.

Getting at it

/muster toggles frame locking. /muster config opens the panel. Also /muster test party and /muster test raid to place frames without a group, /muster color to switch styles, /muster reset to start over. /pan and /pnp do the same as /muster.

Known limits, and why

Patch 12.1 made a lot of unit data opaque to addons. Two consequences you will notice:

  • The aura blacklist only filters out of combat. It matches on spell ID, and spell IDs are secret while you are in combat, so a blacklisted aura reappears in a fight. No addon can currently do better.
  • Debuffs on allies are shown by category, never by individual spell. Blizzard's engine decides what counts as a raid debuff or crowd control. Per-spell tracking on friendly units is not something addons are permitted to do.
