Description
Your trail across Azeroth, recorded as you play, from your first step to level 60.
See it in action: watch a replay on YouTube
You didn't forget your journey. Nothing wrote it down.
Muddy Boots records where you walk, level, die, loot and travel. Open the world map and it's all there: a trail you can replay, step by step. Press play, and your whole road to 60 plays back. There's even a special viewing experience waiting for you when you hit 60.
Free, no account required, nothing leaves your PC, records on its own
Muddy Boots can only record from the moment you install it. Every step before that is gone for good. WoW Forever launches on November 4th. Install it before your first login and your journey starts at level 1.

Still not convinced? Does this sound familiar?
"I hit 60 and all I have is a /played number."
Weeks of play, one line of text. Muddy Boots gives you a replay, 11 pages of stats and a share card.
"I meant to take screenshots."
The best moments happen while you're busy playing. Muddy Boots keeps the whole road, and can take a screenshot at each level-up and dungeon if you want.
"Where did I even die?"
You remember the deaths, not the details. The zone and what killed you are saved in Muddy Boots and marked on the map.
"I wish I could show someone how crazy PvP was in Stranglethorn for me."
You remember the fights, but it's hard to show someone else or relive them. Muddy Boots pins every PvP fight where it happened, win or loss, with their name. The Stats window keeps your matchups by class and the guilds you fought the most.
"Sounds good, I'll install it later."
Then your first levels are gone. Muddy Boots can't record what it never saw.
This was never about a bad memory. This was about reliving the journey. Muddy Boots does this.
Best for
- Your first WoW Forever character. The whole road to 60, kept from level 1.
- Challenge runs. Over 10 accolades judged from how you played, like Soul of Iron for zero deaths.
- Hardcore players. Built with Hardcore in mind (not yet tried on a Hardcore realm): a death plays a memorial of your whole route.
- Altoholics. Each character keeps its own journey, and you can show your other characters' trails on the same map.
- Sharing your journey. One card with your whole trail, your character, up to four fun facts you pick and your accolades.
How it works
- Today: install Muddy Boots.
- First login: recording starts on its own. A short welcome card plays a demo journey across the world map and shows what Muddy Boots does. One click picks the recommended settings.
- While you play: your trail is recorded regularly. Level-ups, deaths, close calls, dungeons and bosses, loot, gold, PvP, your groups and your gear are recorded as they happen. Flights, boats, Zeppelins and Hearthstones become trip arcs.
- After your first session: open the world map and pick the Muddy Boots tab (the boot), or type /mb. Press Play and a silver arrow walks your route again, with short scenes for the big moments.
- At 60: Muddy Boots offers a full-screen journey of your whole road, a finale at the ding and your fun facts cards. Watch it again any time from Options.

- One-click save from the minimap button, gentle reminders and rolling backups
Questions
Will it hurt my frame rate?
It's built to stay light: recording takes a tiny slice of time every few seconds (can change in the addons settings), and big map drawings are spread across frames. Its frame-rate cost hasn't been measured in a full play session yet; that is part of this beta.
Does it send my data anywhere?
No. No website, no uploads, and it doesn't talk to other players' addons.
Will it clutter my screen?
It lives on its own world map tab. Outside the map: a minimap button you can hide, a small save prompt now and then, and a short note on the screen's edge for rare moments like a rare kill. The save prompt waits until combat ends.
Why does saving reload my UI?
The game only writes addon data when you log out or reload. Left-click the minimap button to save with a quick reload. Muddy Boots reminds you after an hour without a save, the first time you enter a zone, or when you go AFK.
Can I lose my journey?
Muddy Boots never deletes a journey. Each one has a rolling backup, and if a journey ever comes back empty while its backup is still there, Muddy Boots offers to restore it. A game crash can cost you what you played since your last save, which is why it reminds you to save.
I'm already past level 1. Is it too late?
No. Your trail, stats and replays start where you are. Accolades that need a recording from level 1 stay hidden. Your next character can have it all from level 1.
Hardcore?
Built with Hardcore in mind, not yet tried on a Hardcore realm. A Hardcore emblem shows, and a death plays a memorial of your whole route.
Does it work with my other addons?
It adds its own tab beside the Quest Log tab, and is expected to work with every addon that adjusts your map. If something clashes, type /mb errors and post the list in our Discord.
Is it in my language?
Muddy Boots' own text is English for now. Zone names and other game names come from your game client, so they show in your language. We plan to release in other languages as well.
