MooseAutomarker

Insane Automarker!!

MooseAutomarker

Your marks. Your priorities.

MooseAutomarker is a standalone raid and dungeon marking addon for World of Warcraft Classic Era.

Configure which raid icons each enemy may receive, arrange them in your preferred order, and assign mob priorities. Then hold LEFT SHIFT and mouse over an enemy to apply its marking rule.

Mark enemies your way

Each mob type has its own configurable rule:

  • Priority from 1 to 10 — 1 is the highest priority.
  • Allowed raid icons in your preferred order, from left to right.
  • Auto Marking enabled or disabled for that mob type.

Newly discovered enemies start at priority 10, with automatic marking disabled and no icons selected.

Ordinary marking only uses explicitly enabled rules with a non-empty icon list. Unknown or disabled enemies do not receive fallback icons.

Priority-based marking

Strict priority allows higher-priority enemies to take icons from lower-priority enemies. The addon attempts to move displaced enemies to another icon from their permitted list. If no permitted icon is available, they may become unmarked.

Protect existing marks blocks ordinary priority reassignment.

Mob priority is considered first, followed by your chosen icon order. Existing assignments and available icons determine the final allocation.

Strict priority is enabled by default. Protect existing marks is disabled by default.

Raid catalogues and dungeon support

Includes mob catalogues and configurable rules for:

  • Molten Core
  • Onyxia’s Lair
  • Blackwing Lair
  • Zul’Gurub
  • Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj
  • Ahn’Qiraj
  • Naxxramas

AQ40 and Naxxramas include the author’s reviewed marking setups. Not every catalogued enemy has automatic marking enabled.

Dungeons are registered when entered. Discover enemies, add custom mobs and build your own dungeon marking setup. Complete predefined rule packs for every dungeon are not included.

Opening /mam selects your current raid or dungeon → General Trash. Outside an instance, it defaults to Naxxramas → General Trash.

Share one raid or dungeon

Share the setup for one selected dungeon or raid through Import / Export.

The shared setup includes:

  • Mob priorities.
  • Allowed raid icons and their order.
  • Auto Marking enabled/disabled states.
  • Custom mob and encounter rules.

Select an instance, click Generate export, and copy the resulting string.

Recipients can Preview the import before applying it:

  • Merge updates incoming rules while keeping unrelated rules.
  • Replace replaces only the instances included in the shared setup.
  • Undo last import restores the previous setup.

A dungeon can be imported before the recipient has visited it. Existing dungeon setups are matched by instance ID.

Dungeon sharing requires MooseAutomarker 1.0.1 or later on both sides. Raid-only exports retain the existing sharing format.

Sharing uses copy-and-paste strings; automatic player-to-player synchronization is not included.

Lightning Totem support

An optional Naxxramas feature automatically attempts to assign Skull to detected Lightning Totems without requiring LEFT SHIFT + mouseover.

This special rule overrides Protect existing marks.

When several totems are detected, Skull stays on the current living, observable totem. A replacement is selected when that totem is no longer available.

An optional “Kill Totem!!” Raid Warning is available to raid leaders and assistants. Raid warnings are disabled by default.

Getting started

  1. Install and enable MooseAutomarker.

  2. Type /mam.

  3. Review the rules for your raid or dungeon.

  4. Hold LEFT SHIFT and mouse over a living enemy.

Other group members can see the resulting raid icons without installing MooseAutomarker.

Commands

  • /mam or /mooseautomarker — Open settings.
  • /mam share — Open import/export.
  • /mam pack scan — Refresh the observed-mob cache.
  • /mam pack clear — Reset internal tracking.

The pack commands do not automatically mark an entire pack or remove all existing game icons.

Compatibility and limitations

  • Designed for WoW Classic Era.
  • No Retail or progression Classic support is claimed.
  • Raid marking requires raid leader or assistant permissions.
  • Eight target icons are available, with each icon assigned to one unit at a time.
  • Enemies must be accessible through unit references supplied by the client, such as mouseover, targets or nameplates.
  • Ordinary rules use exact enemy names. Default names are English; other client languages may require locally discovered or custom rules.
  • Other players and marking addons can change the same raid icons.
  • Open-world marking is not implemented.

Looking for a customizable combat HUD, class reminders, cooldown tracking and additional raid utilities?

Check out MooseHunterAddon (MHA).

MooseAutomarker handles marking as a separate, standalone addon. You can use both addons together, but MHA is not required.

When migrating from an older MHA setup, MooseAutomarker can copy available saved marking settings on the character’s first login. Subsequent changes are independent. If an older MHA marking engine is present, MooseAutomarker suspends it while loaded to prevent both engines from operating together.

Feedback

When reporting an issue, please include your addon version, game version, instance, enemy name, marking settings and steps to reproduce. Screenshots or Lua error messages are helpful.
