FOREVER FIXES

Class Pet Watcher – Changelog

3.4 (2026-10-04)

New

  • Pet missing warning toggle – turn the "pet missing" message on or off (/petop → Warning, or /petmissing). Passive, feed pet, low health and Felguard alerts are not affected.
  • Moving background – a see-through black box with a class-coloured border is shown behind the warning while it is unlocked, or while you Shift + drag it. The whole box can be grabbed, not just the middle.
    • Toggle: "Background while moving"
    • Slider: "Background opacity (%)" (10–100, default 50)
  • Preview mode – "Preview warning (test)" in /petop, or /petpreview. Shows a sample "pet missing" warning (tagged PREVIEW) even before you have learned Call Pet / a summon, so you can see and place it. Also shows a sample Growl / Torment line. Resets to off on reload.
  • Hunter low ammo alert (Classic clients with an ammo slot) – "Low ammo! (count)" line, red "Out of ammo!" when empty or nothing equipped. Only when a bow, gun or crossbow is equipped.
    • Toggle: "Hunter: low ammo alert" (or /petammo)
    • Slider: "Low ammo at" (50–1000 in steps of 50, default 200)
  • Growl / Torment in group alert – warns when the hunter pet's Growl or the Voidwalker's Torment is on autocast while you are in a party or raid (it pulls threat off the tank). Toggle in Alerts, or /petgrowl.
  • Sound alerts – new Sound section. Plays a chosen sound once when a warning appears (max once every 3 seconds). Built-in game sounds plus any sounds other addons register through LibSharedMedia. Off by default.
  • Per-character settings – new Settings section. When on, this character gets its own copy of the settings; when off, it uses the shared account settings. Uses the new ClassPetWatcherCharDB saved variable.
  • Revive button when your hunter pet is dead – in Classic the pet vanishes when it dies, so the warning used to offer Call Pet (which fails). The addon now tracks the death (pet health, or the pet vanishing mid-combat without being dismissed – the combat log is protected on some clients so it is not used) and shows "Pet is dead - Revive it!" with the Revive Pet icon; left-click casts Revive Pet. Remembered per character across reloads, cleared once the pet is back alive. Preview: "Dead" option or /petpreview dead.
  • Revive / summon is clickable in combat – when combat starts the icon button is pre-set (hunter: Revive Pet, warlock: your selected demon) and the game shows it by itself the moment your pet disappears, so you can click it mid-fight. It goes back to normal after combat. Also shows while the dead pet still counts as "there" (corpse), so the first click works.

Options window (/petop)

  • Resize grips in both bottom corners.
  • Height scrolls (mouse wheel or the slim class-coloured scrollbar).
  • Making the window wider flows the sections into 2 or 3 columns side by side instead of stretching the rows; the width snaps to whole columns.
  • Window size is remembered.
  • New "Position" section: Lock position, Background while moving, Background opacity, Preview warning.

Changes

  • Lock position is now saved – it used to reset to locked on every reload.
  • Unlocking now shows the preview automatically when no real warning is up, so there is always something to drag.
  • Click-to-summon overlay is disabled while the warning is unlocked so it does not block dragging.
  • Low ammo and Growl lines stack under the pet low health line without gaps.

Fixes

  • Feed pet alert now works on any client that has pet happiness, instead of only clients detected as "Classic". The option only shows for hunters.
  • Preview can show each warning type – "Preview shows: Missing / Feed / Passive" in /petop, or /petpreview feed, /petpreview passive, /petpreview missing.
  • /petdebug now prints your pet's happiness, where it was read from, and the feed alert settings.
  • Feed pet alert on WoW Forever / newer Classic clients – these removed GetPetHappiness and hide the happiness power value (secret number). Happiness is now read from the namespaced API, the pet frame's happiness face, or – if everything is hidden – shown through a curve-driven "Feed your pet!" line. Fixes the "attempt to perform arithmetic on a secret number value" error.
  • "Hide in neighborhoods" no longer appears on Classic (e.g. interface 16001). Some Classic clients ship an empty C_Housing table; housing is now only detected on Retail clients that actually have the housing functions. /pethood says housing is not available there.

Files

  • .toc: version 3.4, added ## SavedVariablesPerCharacter: ClassPetWatcherCharDB. Restart the game (not just /reload) after updating.
