MiliUI Damage Meters

A damage meter that's simple, easy to configure, and ready to go out of the box.

As of 12.x, addons can no longer read the combat log, so every damage meter has to work with Blizzard's built-in data. I couldn't find one I liked, so I made my own.

All numbers are calculated by Blizzard's built-in damage meter engine. This addon only draws them and never touches the combat log. Whether you're in a 20-player raid or a busy pull, the cost stays the same. Performance depends only on how many rows are on screen.

Lightweight and Ready to Use

  • No double counting: Blizzard's built-in damage meter is turned off by default, so the same data isn't tracked twice or shown in two overlapping windows. On first launch, the meter takes over the built-in window's position. To keep Blizzard's meter, untick the option in settings.
  • Zero cost outside combat: Windows only refresh during combat, and hidden windows never refresh.
  • Two windows by default: Damage Done and Healing Done come snapped together. Drag the top one and the bottom one follows.

What You Can Track

  • Eight meter types: Damage Done, Healing Done, Damage Taken, Avoidable Damage Taken, Enemy Damage Taken, Interrupts, Dispels, and Deaths.
  • Combined Interrupts & Dispels view: One window with two side-by-side columns, great for Mythic+.
  • Click the title to switch types: Each type is shown as a card, so you can see who's on top before you open it.
  • Left-click a bar for details:
    • Most types: spell breakdown, per-second values, and share of the total. Damage Done also shows which targets were hit.
    • Enemy Damage Taken: who dealt the damage.
    • Deaths: every hit taken before dying, with bar length showing remaining health at that moment.
  • Hover preview: Mouse over a bar to see a spell breakdown without clicking.
  • Your row stays visible: If your rank drops out of view, your own row stays pinned in the window.
  • Feign Death isn't counted as a death.

Automatic Segment Switching

  • Shows Current during combat, then switches to Overall 3 seconds after combat ends, so you have time to read the final numbers.
  • Won't switch while your cursor is over the meter. It switches once you move away.
  • In raids it stays on Current, since Overall would add up several bosses from the whole night and isn't very useful.
  • Won't interfere while you're looking at an older fight. Switch back to Current or Overall to turn automatic switching back on.
  • The title bar shows whether you're viewing Current, Overall, or a specific boss, and flashes briefly when it switches automatically.

Layout

  • Up to 10 windows, each with its own meter type, segment, and visibility conditions.
  • Link windows so they change segments together, such as one for damage and one for healing.
  • Snapping: Windows snap to each other and to MiliUI's Info Bar, Minimap, Quest Tracker, and Chat Bar.
  • Reversed layout: Moves the title bar to the bottom and puts first place on the bottom row. Ideal for windows at the bottom of the screen.
  • Thin-line style (default): Each bar is shown as a thin line along the edge of its row, with icons and text kept, for a cleaner look. Solid bars are also available.
  • Move windows by dragging the title bar or through Edit Mode.
  • Visibility conditions: Always, In Combat, In Instance, or In Group, plus options to hide in dungeons, raids, delves, battlegrounds, or the open world.
  • Customize font, outline, row height, bar texture, class or custom colors, spec or class icons, and number format (total, per second, or both with percentage).

Other Features

  • Auto reset: Resets when you enter a new instance, and starting a keystone counts as a new run. Choose to reset automatically, ask first, or do nothing. If you're in combat, it waits until combat ends.
  • Profiles: Give each character its own profile, or switch to a layout you've already set up on another character.
  • Export / import strings: Share your whole setup with friends, including window positions.

Commands

  • /mdm: Open settings (also available from the addon menu next to the minimap, or the ESC menu)
  • /mdm reset: Clear recorded segments

Known Limitations

These are 12.x system restrictions. In restricted content such as boss encounters and Mythic+, Blizzard marks some values as secret, so percentages are hidden automatically. During combat, only your own row and death records can be expanded. All other rows can be expanded after combat ends.
