Overview

MidnightTranslator (for Retail World of Warcraft: Midnight) and ForeverTranslator (for World of Warcraft: Forever) break the language barrier in Mythic+ keys, raids, delves, dungeons, and open-world groups across Americas, Latin American (Ragnaros, Quel'Thalas, Drakkari), and Brazilian (Azralon, Nemesis, Goldrinn, Gallywix, Tol Barad) realms.

The addon works 100% standalone inside World of Warcraft with zero external dependencies, and also includes an optional Automated Google Translate Companion Bridge for live neural translation and 1-click auto-pasting directly into your WoW chat bar.

Key Features

• Real-Time Incoming Chat Translation (ES & PT-BR -> EN): Automatically detects and translates Spanish and Portuguese messages across Party, Instance, Raid, Raid Warning, Say, Yell, Guild, Officer, Whisper, Battle.net Whisper, and Custom Channels.

• Natural Grammar & Morphological Verb Engine: Powered by a curated dictionary of 1,500+ gaming, conversational, Mythic+, raid, and Classic+ phrases alongside a morphological stemmer that recognizes 5,000+ conjugated Spanish and Portuguese verb forms, enclitic pronouns (invócame, ayúdame, pásamelo), and accented/unaccented text.

• Bi-Directional Outgoing Translation (EN -> ES & PT-BR):

  • Below-Chat Quick-Translate Bar: Compact ->ES, ->PT, GT:ES, GT:PT, and TL buttons dock cleanly underneath the bottom-right of your chat input box without blocking chat text.

  • In-Place Tab Shortcut: Type !es wait for healer mana or !pt use bloodlust on this boss in any chat channel and press Tab to translate your message in-place without losing your active /p, /i, /ra, or /w target.

• Interactive [TL] Tooltip & Quick-Reply Window:

  • Hover over [TL] on any translated chat line to view the original message, sender, detected language, and translation in a tooltip.

  • Click [TL] (or type /mt ui / /ft ui) to open the interactive translator window with 8 one-click localized quick replies (Ready, Wait for mana, Summon please, Use Bloodlust, Interrupt, Do you need loot?, My bad, Thanks / GG).

• Full Hyperlink & Secret Value Protection: Preserves clickable item links, spell links, Mythic+ keystones, achievements, and {rt1} raid target icons while respecting Midnight 12.0+ issecretvalue() combat restrictions with zero taint.

• 4-Tab Configuration Suite (/mt config or ESC -> Options -> AddOns):

  1. General & Detection: Master toggle, independent ES/PT toggles, adjustable Detection Sensitivity Slider (10%–60%) with Aggressive, Balanced, and Strict presets, and LATAM/BR realm confidence boost.

  2. Appearance & Formatting: Choose between Inline Append, Replace Message, or Separate Line Below, customize highlight colors with 6 presets or WoW's native Color Picker, and preview changes live.

  3. Chat Channels: 16 individual channel checkboxes plus 1-click presets (Enable All, M+ / Raid / Party Only, Mute General / Trade / Yell).

  4. Custom Dictionary & Ignored Words: Add or remove custom phrases and false-positive ignored words directly in-game.

• Optional Automated Google Translate Bridge (Companion/midnight_google_bridge.py):

  • Uses only Python's standard library (zero pip installs) to connect Google Translate directly to your WoW chat window.

  • Clicking GT:ES or GT:PT under your chat bar and pressing Ctrl+C translates your English sentence through Google Translate in ~120ms and automatically pastes (Ctrl+V) the result back into your active WoW chat box without changing your screen resolution or window state.

  • Auto-learns every translated sentence into Dictionaries/LiveGoogleCache.lua.
