Macro Translate

automatically translates World of Warcraft macros between different client languages.

When you change your game language, many macros stop working because spell, talent and mount names are localized. Macro Translate solves this problem by building a personal translation database directly from your own WoW client and updating your macros automatically.

First-Time Setup (you only have to do this once)

1. Install and enable the addon.
2. Log in using the language your macros are currently written in.
3. Log in to each character with macros you want to translate.
4. Log out and change your WoW client to the language you want to translate to.
5. Log in again on the same characters.
6. Your macros are now ready for translation.

Slash Commands

/mtr  Reopen the translation window manually.

/mtr scan  Manually rescan your spells.

/mtr locales  Display all stored client languages.

/mtr stats  Display database statistics, including stored spells and mounts.

Troubleshooting

If you have macros containing items, for example:  /use Goblin Glider Kit
--> Fix: write /use item:109076 instead.

If your preview shows some spells not being translated, it could be a talented skill in your spec-tree that wasn't active when you scanned your character.
--> Fix: switch through all specializations and run: /mtr scan once per specialization on each language.

How It Works

Macro Translate scans localized spell and mount names directly from your own WoW client and stores them in SavedVariables.

It also automatically scans your class & spec talent-tree you are on during log in. If you need spells from a non active talent-tree to translate, switch talents and manually do /mtr scan once per specialization per language.

Once at least two client languages have been scanned, the addon can automatically translate macro text from one language to another.

Because all translations come directly from the game client, no maintenance-heavy translation database is required. This also means support automatically adapts to new spells, talents, mounts, and future World of Warcraft updates.
