Lorecraft: Forever

Lorecraft: Forever is an immersive exploration and collection addon for World of Warcraft Classic Era / WoW Forever. It transforms your journey across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms into an interactive historical chronicle, bringing the legendary characters and stories of Warcraft's pre-WoW era into the world around you.

As you explore Azeroth, Lorecraft dynamically detects iconic heroes, chieftains and villains who first appeared in the original Warcraft strategy games (Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Warcraft II and Warcraft III) and classic franchise novels (Of Blood and Honor, Lord of the Clans and Day of the Dragon).

Discovering these characters unlocks detailed historical dossiers featuring their origins, notable achievements, full voice-over narration and interactive 3D in-game models, all presented within an immersive, spellbook-inspired journal.

Key Features & Current Capabilities

Real-Time NPC Discovery Engine

• Silently monitors target changes, mouseovers and active nameplates to identify recognised characters in real time.
• Uses native GUID parsing to identify encountered creatures and match them against the Lorecraft character database.
• Automatically unlocks newly discovered entries and saves your progress using WoW SavedVariables.

Classic Discovery Toast Alerts

• Displays an ornate, gold-bordered discovery banner at the top of the screen whenever you encounter a previously undiscovered character.
• Features the title "Lore Entry Added", the character's name and their historical origin title.
• Combines atmospheric Classic WoW audio cues, including a mystical discovery chime, spellbook shimmer and delayed parchment page-turn sound.
• Interactive: Clicking the discovery notification immediately opens the Codex to the newly unlocked character entry.

Full Voice-Over Narration & Subtitles

• Every unlocked character entry includes custom spoken narration.
• Narration can automatically play when a character is discovered or be played manually using the journal's VO button.
• Features a cinematic, bottom-centre subtitle overlay displaying synchronised narrator dialogue.
• Background Persistence: Narration continues uninterrupted when the journal is closed or you Alt-Tab out of the game.

Spellbook-Inspired Parchment Journal

Designed to capture the look and feel of the original World of Warcraft spellbook and quest log, featuring fully opaque, warm parchment textures and authentic typography, including Morpheus titles and dark sepia Friz Quadrata-style text.

• Left Page – Exploration Clues & Zones: Characters are organised under geographical and encounter-based headings, including Orgrimmar, Ironforge, Eastern Plaguelands and Dungeon. Undiscovered characters remain hidden behind ??? entries, while their debut game or novel provides historical clues to encourage exploration.
• Right Page – Interactive 3D Models & Chronicles: View live 3D creature models with manual mouse-wheel zoom and left-click drag rotation controls. Each character dossier includes their formal titles, home zones, pre-WoW media appearances, backstory, notable achievements and encounter information.
• Discovery Records: Automatically records the date, time, character level and character name when you first encounter each legend.

Dungeon & Raid Smart Muting

• Optionally disables automatic voice-over narration while inside party dungeons and raid instances.
• Built-in audio concurrency protection prevents narration from overlapping when multiple characters are discovered simultaneously.

Flexible Progress Tracking

• Choose between account-wide discovery progress shared across your characters or independent discovery tracking for each individual character.

Strict Zero-Spoiler Policy

• All historical lore, character motivations and background information strictly stop at Year 25 ADP, the opening of World of Warcraft Classic.
• Avoids in-game plot twists, secret identities and future expansion storylines.
• Discover the history behind Azeroth's legendary characters without spoiling the adventures that lie ahead.

Minimap Button & Keybindings

• Minimap Ring Icon: A draggable, leather-bound book icon that sits around your minimap. Hover to view your total discovery count, left-click to open the Codex, or right-click to access audio and instance settings.
• Shift + L: Instantly opens or closes the Codex using a dedicated keyboard shortcut, accompanied by custom page-shimmer audio.
