Looty is a boss loot distribution system.
Being the Master Looter in a 25 person raid can be a time consuming and frustrating process. Trying to keep track of who received what loot, what spec it was for, were they eligible for the loot etc can take a lot of the fun out of raiding.
Looty aims to simplify distributing loot in a raid; when the boss or mob goes down, you can click on it and add their loot to the Looty window. Anyone interested in the loot can whisper you or put in raid chat that they are interested. The interested parties are automatically added to the Looty window for review.
You can then call for a /roll (or however you decide who gets the loot), select the loot, the raiders name and then click the Give Loot button. All of the information is then added to the Looty window so you can tell who received what loot quickly and easily. It tracks their name, rank, what loot it was, what mob it came from, as well as the time and date.
