What's new
Long Road Companion
0.9.7
- Upgrade notes now cover off-hand weapons for classes that dual wield (rogues, and warriors from 20). A one-hander is suggested for whichever hand it helps more. The off hand is priced as an off hand: half damage, and more misses while holding two weapons
- Hunters get notes for bows, guns and crossbows, priced by what auto shot does with them
- Casters who can use wands get notes for wands, priced by the time they spend shooting one when no spell can be cast
- Like the main hand, each of these waits until the rig has worked out the numbers for your class and level. Thrown weapons, and bows or guns for classes that don't fight with them, count by their stats
- Ranged attack power on gear now counts toward its worth
0.9.6
- Upgrade notes on the live panel now cover weapons and shields. A one-hander is compared with your main hand, and a two-hander with both hands together, so a two-hander has to beat your weapon and your shield or off-hand item. For warriors, rogues and paladins the note counts the weapon's damage and speed, using what the rig worked out they are worth to your class at your level. Until the rig has those numbers for your class and level, weapon notes stay quiet. Other classes' weapons are judged by their stats
- An off-hand item isn't suggested while you hold a two-hander, and weapons your class can't use are never suggested
- Bows, guns, crossbows, thrown weapons and wands aren't judged yet
0.9.5
- First release on CurseForge and Wago. Nothing changes in game
0.9.4
- The armor each class can wear (for upgrade notes on the live panel) now comes from Classes.lua, generated from the project's single class list, so a new class needs no change to the addon's code. Nothing changes in game
0.9.3
- For the moment a quest picture is taken, other players' names (and their pets', which carry the owner's name) and chat bubbles are switched off, then put back. Pictures on the site never show who else was standing there. If the game closes in between, the settings are put back at the next login
0.9.2
- Quest pictures are taken only where they can reach the site: the household's PCs, and PCs running the Long Road Uploader, which crops each one to the middle of the screen, sends it and deletes it. Anyone with the addon alone keeps their Screenshots folder and screenshot settings as they were. /longroad screenshots on or off overrides either way
- Each picture the addon takes is noted in the saved file with the game's time and the PC's clock, so the uploader sends only the addon's own screenshots, never the player's
0.9.1
- The raid log records each boss pull: which boss, how long, kill or wipe, and which raiders were dead when it ended (from the game's encounter events, not the combat log). Guild officers see boss progress and deaths by boss on the guild dashboard after importing the log
0.9.0
- New live panel (/longroad live, drag to move): this session's quests per hour against your own usual pace and against other players at your level, XP per hour and time to the next level, deaths and time lost to them, and your last quest step against the fastest run anyone has recorded
- A warning in chat when you walk into a spot where players have died more than once (/longroad live warnings off to stop)
- A note in chat when loot beats what you wear, using the stat weights worked out for your class and level (armor, rings, trinkets and cloaks; /longroad live upgrades off to stop)
- The comparisons come from Bench.lua, which the rig writes each night from everyone's play with no names in it and the family hand-off brings to each PC
0.8.2
- Health left after a fight is read a second after combat ends; Forever doesn't let addons read it the moment the fight ends, which recorded every fight as ending on 0 health. If it still can't be read, the fight is kept without it
- A fight where the mob reached you before you targeted it now takes the mob you target during the fight
0.8.1
- No more "blocked from an action only available to the Blizzard UI" warning at login. Forever keeps the combat log for its own interface, and 0.7 and 0.8 asked for it. The addon no longer does on clients like this; fights, kills, deaths and the rest are recorded as before, without damage and healing numbers
0.8.0
- New file Gear.lua: records what you wear and your stats (strength to spell power, crit, hit, weapon damage and speed, mana), your professions and skill, and every spell you know with its cast time, cooldown, cost and description. Stats are read only out of combat; a change made in combat is recorded when the fight ends
- Records the stats, level, slot and type of every wearable item you see: loot, vendors, recipes, the auction house, and quest rewards (which quest offers which items is kept too)
- Loot from a herb, ore or chest is logged as gathering
- /longroad gear saves all of it on demand
- These feed the best order of attacks for your class, what each stat is worth to you, gear upgrades with where to get them, and profession advice
0.7.0
- New file Combat.lua: records each fight (where it started, what you targeted and its level, how long it took, kills and their XP, health left afterwards, group size), each death (what killed you, how many mobs were on you) and how long it took to get back, time spent eating and drinking, and your path (a position every 5 seconds while moving)
- If the game lets addons read the combat log with real numbers, fights also carry damage done and taken, healing, overhealing and interrupts. The addon checks this each session and notes the answer for the rig; if the numbers are hidden it stops reading the combat log and keeps everything else
- These feed the mob map, the danger spots, the comparison of routes between quests, and player skill profiles
0.6.3
- Fixes the "bad argument #2 (Usage: C_Timer.After(seconds, callback))" error on every quest accept and turn-in since 0.6.0: the client's timer takes a Lua function only, and the screenshot was handed to it directly. The error also kept the accept/turn-in record from being written; the quest-giver record before it was fine
- The record is now written before the picture is taken, so a picture problem can never cost it
- A problem in any handler no longer stops the addon or opens the Lua error window: it is said once in chat and kept in the saved data (up to 20, a week), where the hand-off carries it to the rig and the nightly run reports it
- The version now lives in the .toc (the AddOns list at character select shows it);
/longroadshows it and the saved data carries it, so the rig can tell who runs an old copy
0.6.2
- Records which dungeon or raid you walk into (its name, id, size and your level, once per visit), so the site's dungeon pages can say an instance has been seen in Forever and from what level
0.6.1
- Asks in chat for the camera to be lined up when a quest whose picture the site has is a poor one opens (the pipeline writes the list to Wanted.lua; the play script and the family hand-off keep it current). Nothing changes for other quests
- Wanted.lua is a new file in the addon folder; reinstall or copy the folder again
0.6.0
- Takes a screenshot the moment a quest is accepted or turned in, for the picture on the quest page. Sets the client's screenshot quality to 8 once (you are told in chat). /longroad screenshots off turns it off
0.5.3
- The .toc names the website, thelongroad.io. No change in game
0.5.2
- Renamed from Wayfarer Companion. The saved data is now LongRoadDB in LongRoadCompanion.lua and the command is /longroad; the website and pipeline still accept files from the old name
0.5.1
- Interface version set to 16001, the number the 1.60.1 beta client reports; /longroad now shows the client's build and interface number
- Level is tracked through the session: the logout event and the character record no longer show the level from character select
- Item names the client has not cached yet are requested and filled in when they arrive, instead of being left blank
- Vendor prices keep fractions of a copper for items sold in stacks (ammo), instead of rounding to 0
- Talent export asks the client to load spell descriptions and runs again, so descriptions are no longer missing
- Loot records the item name from the loot link
0.5.0
- Records raid attendance and rare-or-better loot inside raid instances (/longroad raid)
- Saves talent trees, profession recipes, vendor prices and auction scans (/longroad scan)
- Logs quest pickups and turn-ins, quest giver locations and loot for leveling routes
