LAST RATIONS - Survival - RP - Challange

A self-imposed hardcore survival ruleset: manage Hunger, Thirst, Fatigue and Hygiene, wear only the gear you can justify, and keep your Honour intact while roleplaying as someone who actually has to survive out there.

Description

Feedback, bug reports, suggestions, and ideas are genuinely appreciated. If something feels unbalanced, confusing, frustrating, or just plain wrong, please let me know.

The goal is to build Last Rations into the best possible survival-roleplay experience for WoW, and player feedback is a big part of getting there.

Thanks for helping shape the addon.

------------
Last Rations

Turn World of Warcraft into a genuine survival-roleplay experience.

Your character has real needs, a reputation to protect, and real consequences for cutting corners — all enforced automatically.

No self-policing. No honour system. No remembering a dozen house rules.

Last Rations does it for you.

The Four Needs

Hunger · Thirst · Fatigue · Hygiene

All four needs drain over time and are displayed on a compact on-screen panel, with a full breakdown available in the in-game journal.

🍖 Hunger

Refilled by eating.

  • Self-cooked meals restore the most.

  • Store-bought food restores less.

  • Raw ingredients restore the least.

Cooking isn't just flavour — it matters.

💧 Thirst

Any drink will fully quench your thirst.

😴 Fatigue

Recover by using /sleep.

  • Sleep twice as fast in an inn or rested area.

  • Simply sitting down stops Fatigue from draining, letting you chat, trade, or wait without getting more exhausted.

🧼 Hygiene

Get wet.

Swim in any body of water to wash up.

When Things Go Wrong

Let a need become critical and your character will make it known.

  • Your character complains out loud.

  • The screen pulses with a warning colour.

  • If Hunger and Thirst both reach zero, you black out and are forced to sit until you recover.

  • If Fatigue reaches zero, you are forced into sleep — whether you like it or not.

Survival isn't a suggestion.

A Real Gear Rule

Only Grey and White quality items may be equipped — in every gear slot.

Heirlooms are always banned. No exceptions.

There are only two ways around the restriction:

Crafted Gear

You may equip gear that:

  • You crafted yourself, or

  • A member of your Last Rations party crafted for you.

The Fit Roll

Higher-quality gear can occasionally be accepted through a one-time permanent roll.

Roughly 2 in 10 items will actually "fit."

The roll happens once.

If it passes, the item is permanently accepted.

If it fails, it doesn't matter how much you want it — the gear stays off.

Equip something that breaks the rules and Last Rations automatically removes it.

Honour

Your Reputation System

Some conveniences are considered dishonourable.

Two of the biggest offenders:

  • 🏠 Using a Hearthstone

  • 🦅 Riding a flying mount

Attempt either and Last Rations gives you an unmissable warning with a countdown.

Fail to cancel the action and your Honour drops to zero.

Your Time Honourable clock then stops.

To earn your Honour back, you must genuinely survive — meeting your needs through normal gameplay rather than simply topping off something that was barely depleted.

Convenience has a cost.

Score

A simple, Honour-gated progress tracker.

While Honourable, you earn progress from:

  • Completing quests

  • Profession skill-ups

  • Gaining levels

  • Earning experience

  • Performing genuine survival actions

Lose your Honour and your progress stops.

Survive honestly. Progress honestly.

Difficulty Modes

Choose how much pain you want.

🟢 Needs Only

A gentle introduction.

Includes:

  • Hunger

  • Thirst

  • Fatigue

  • Hygiene

  • All associated consequences

No gear restrictions.
No Honour system.
No additional restrictions.

🟡 Standard

The complete Last Rations experience.

Includes:

  • All four needs

  • Gear restrictions

  • Honour

  • Score

  • Restricted conveniences

No additional death penalty.

🔴 Hardcore

Death actually costs you.

When you die, you must discard everything except:

  • Weapons

  • Quest items

  • Bags

You cannot release your spirit until the required items have been discarded.

A live on-screen checklist shows exactly what still needs to go — and updates in real time as you throw things away.

Death has consequences.

☠️ Hardcore Ironman

Everything from Hardcore.

Except there is no coming back.

Death is permanent.

One-Way Difficulty

You can always step down to an easier mode.

You can never move back up.

Once you've lowered the difficulty, that decision is permanent for the journey.

Also Restricted

Last Rations removes several of WoW's modern conveniences:

  • ❌ Auction House

  • ❌ Transmogrification

  • ❌ Warband Bank

  • ❌ Trading outside your Last Rations party

  • ❌ Recuperate

Recuperate is stripped the instant it becomes available.

The Journal

Type /lr — or right-click the compact status panel — to open the full Last Rations journal.

Built in the native WoW UI style, the journal contains several tabs.

📊 Stats

Every need gets its own icon, live status, and lifetime statistics.

Track things such as:

  • Deaths

  • Flight paths taken

  • Food consumed

  • Drinks consumed

  • Times rested

  • Times fully slept

  • Swims taken

  • Washes

  • Honour drops

  • Total journey time

Your entire journey is recorded.

⚔️ Mode

See your current difficulty mode and manage your one-way, step-down-only mode change.

📜 Rules

The complete Last Rations ruleset.

Always kept synchronized with your current settings.

⚙️ Settings

Control your experience from inside the journal.

  • Toggle the on-screen status bars

  • Confirm whether you're participating

  • Open advanced settings

  • Fully reset your character's journey

  • Start a fresh run

Fully Configurable

Almost everything can be tuned.

Configure:

  • Decay rates

  • Refill amounts

  • Warning thresholds

  • Restrictions

  • Survival behaviour

  • Other advanced rules

However, there is a catch.

Official vs Unofficial

Change anything away from the default ruleset and your character becomes Unofficial for Last Rations Honourable status.

That means a completely untouched default ruleset remains verifiable as a genuine Last Rations run.

You can customise the experience.

But you can't customise the rules and still claim the official run.

Who Is Last Rations For?

Roleplayers who want their survival needs enforced rather than self-policed.

Hardcore players who want death to carry consequences with real teeth.

Challenge runners looking for a different way to experience Azeroth.

And anyone who's ever thought:

"I wish WoW asked a little more of me than press 1 to win."

Last Rations turns Azeroth into a journey you actually have to survive.
