LangLearner: learn a language in Azeroth
Turn WoW Classic's dead time into study time. LangLearner shows flashcards from a real language course in the moments you're waiting anyway, and stays out of your way the rest of the time. It never appears in combat.
Courses
Each course teaches one language, with the cards written in a language you already speak (the same language can come in more than one base language). All courses come in the one download: type /ll courses in game to see them, and /ll course to pick one. Each course keeps its own progress, so you can switch at any time.
New chapters, courses and languages arrive as updates. See the changelog on the Files tab for what's in each release.
When it shows up
- Flight paths: up to 10 cards per flight
- Ghost runs: a few cards on the way back to your corpse
- Resting in an inn or city: once you've stood still for 20 seconds
- Fishing and AFK
No cards due? Nothing opens. If a fight interrupts a session, it picks up where it left off once combat ends.
Features
- Spaced repetition (SM-2): Again / Hard / Good / Easy, like Anki. Words you miss come back before the session ends.
- Word drops: after kills, loot and quest turn-ins a word can drop like loot, coloured by how well you know it.
- Grammar cards: fill-in-the-blank multiple choice, with a hint when you're stuck.
- Listening cards: hear words spoken in the language you're learning, with the voice on its own volume slider.
- Stats page and a practice mode that never touches your review schedule.
- Immersion (optional, off by default): relabels parts of the game's own interface in the language you're learning.
- Account-wide progress: all your characters share the same cards.
