KwikTip

v3.5.0 (2026-09-11)

Full Changelog Previous Releases

  • release: v3.5.0 — support link in settings and /kwik support
Adds a way to say thanks. A muted "Support KwikTip" line sits above the
logo in the settings sidebar, and /kwik support prints the same link.
Nothing is gated, nothing is added to chat on login, and every feature
    stays free.
  • Add a support link to the config window and /kwik support
KwikTip has ~19k downloads and has never had a way for anyone to say
thanks. This adds one, in the least intrusive form available: a muted
"Support KwikTip" line above the logo in the config nav pane, plus a
/kwik support command matching the existing /kwik feedback idiom.
No chat message on load, no nag, no gating — the addon stays free and
every feature stays free, as Blizzard's addon policy requires. Donation
links are permitted; charging is not.
The client cannot open a browser, so the button raises a popup holding a
selectable edit box instead. Any edit rewrites itself back to the URL, so
a stray keypress cannot leave someone copying a broken link, and the
popup uses preferredIndex 3 to avoid tainting Blizzard's popup slots.
Strings are localized in both enUS and deDE, with tests asserting the
German message resolves and that the URL survives localization.
    Localization suite 52 -> 54, validate_data.py clean.
Ko-fi rather than Patreon: a one-off tip suits a free utility better than
a subscription, and Ko-fi takes 0% of tips. Patreon remains the recurring
    home on KwikShack.
  • Ignore Python bytecode from the tools/ scripts
tools/*.py generate __pycache__ on every run; it was untracked-but-visible
and easy to sweep into a commit by accident.
