Know Your Role

Know Your Role is a raid coordination and strategy addon for WoW Classic and WoW Forever that helps raid leaders organize custom boss plans and give every player clear, role-specific instructions.

Raid leaders can create a separate strategy for each boss, define custom roles, assign players, add personal notes, and write detailed mechanic instructions for each role. When a plan is published, players receive a small movable widget showing their current assignment.

Clicking the widget opens two simple sections:

• Raid Leader Notes — instructions written specifically for that player
• My Mechanics — the strategy and mechanics tied to their assigned role

This makes it easy to handle custom guild strategies without forcing everyone to read through one giant raid note.

Example

A raid leader could assign:

Role: OFF TANK 2

Mechanics:
Pick up the second add on the right.
Move it to the eastern wall.
Do not kill it until the main tank calls for burn.

Personal Note:
If Thorin dies, take over his add.
Save your defensive for the second transition.

The assigned player receives only the information relevant to their job.

Raid Marker Presets

Know Your Role can also store preset raid markers for players, roles, enemies, and NPCs.

Use:

/kyr markers

to open the movable marker bar and quickly access your prepared assignments.

Commands

/kyr

Opens the raid planner.

/kyr assignment

Opens your current role assignment.

/kyr markers

Opens the preset marker bar.

/kyr publish

Publishes the selected boss plan.

/kyr minimap on
/kyr minimap off

Shows or hides the minimap button.

/kyr autopublish on
/kyr autopublish off

Controls automatic plan publishing when a matching encounter begins.

Installation

Install through the CurseForge app, or place the KnowYourRole folder inside:

World of Warcraft/<client>/Interface/AddOns/

Then launch the game and type:

/kyr

to open the addon.
