v0.2.0-beta-forever
What's new
Changelog
0.2.0-beta (2026-10-21)
- Rogues and Feral Druids: abilities that need you behind the target (Backstab, Ambush, Garrote, Shred, Ravage, Pounce) give way to the next line, such as Sinister Strike or Claw, while the target is attacking you (it faces you then) and none of your stuns holds it (Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, Bash, Pounce; Gouge until your next hit), and after the game says "You must be behind your target" until you move or change targets. Garrote is exempt with Dirty Deeds.
- Melee classes (Rogue, Warrior, Feral Druid): out of melee range the next strike now shows in red, as on your action bars, instead of no icon until you are in range.
- Kairos has its own icon (the hourglass from the project page) in the AddOns list, the minimap addon menu, and Edit Mode, instead of Battle Shout.
- Lighter: Kairos does less work and makes far less garbage while it shows suggestions (out of combat it no longer asks the game about your buffs for every condition, only once a second), and keeps only your class and your language in memory, about a third less after login.
- Every class's spell order is tuned again, by a simulator that now plays every talent and spell the way its tooltip in the game describes it, with the game's own numbers. Below level 60 it levels: mobs of your level one after another, which hit you (and push back your casts) until they die; at 60 it fights a raid boss in a group. For each talent tree it tunes the order for the strongest build it finds there, starting from the builds Forever's leveling guides publish (Icy Veins, Mobalytics, Conquest Capped). Among what it got wrong before: Judgement of Command dealt no damage, Warlock demons and Hunter pets' attacks were missing, Stormstrike's bonus was lost, Ignite, Shatter, Flurry, Windfury and poisons did nothing, and talents that shorten cast times or cooldowns counted for nothing.
- Demonology Warlocks have their own tuned order.
- Rogues are shown Stealth before a pull, so the Stealth openers come first; Feral Druids are shown Prowl in Cat Form before a pull, then Ravage or Pounce; Balance Druids are shown Moonkin Form when in no form.
- Frost Mages keep Ice Barrier up: in Forever it also raises Frost damage.
- Elemental Shamans keep Water Shield up once they have it, and no longer cast Chain Lightning back to back during Elemental Mastery, which ran them out of mana.
- "Save combat data for tuning" is gone from the settings page, since nothing collects players' data yet. It is turned off for everyone by this update, so no one keeps writing a combat log without a switch.
0.1.2-beta (2026-10-20)
- Quieter logins: the welcome shows on your first login only. After an update, one line says what changed; otherwise Kairos says nothing.
- The version in chat no longer shows a double "v" (it said "vv0.1.1-beta").
0.1.1-beta (2026-10-20)
- No more "blocked a call of Kairos" messages in combat: the game blocks its 10-yard range check for addons in combat, so Kairos only asks it out of combat. Suggestions are unchanged.
0.1.0-beta1 (2026-10-20)
The first beta of Kairos: get your mind off your rotation and enjoy the adventure.
- Damage rotations for every class: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Warlock, Priest, Paladin, Shaman, Druid,
and Hunter, checked against Forever's own talent trees and beta build 70425's class changes:
- Arcane Mages cast one Arcane Blast for its 15 sec buff (a second stack costs far more), then Arcane Wrath and Arcane Missiles.
- Elemental Shamans use Elemental Mastery with the cooldowns toggle.
- Hunters keep Trueshot Aura up; Shadow Priests keep Devouring Plague up on its 24 sec cooldown; Affliction Warlocks keep Immolate up alongside Wrack.
- The key to press lights up on your action bars, with the same moving lights Blizzard uses for its own suggestions, so your eyes can stay on your bars; the interrupt's key lights up red. "Show the icon" can be turned off if the glow is all you want.
- Keys are found on Blizzard's, Bartender4, ElvUI, and Dominos bars. Controller buttons show as the game shows them.
- Spell orders come from a simulator based on SimulationCraft.
- Out-of-combat reminders above the icon: a missing or fading self-buff, a weapon without its poison or imbue, low ammo or soul shards, and a missing, dead, or unhappy pet. Never in combat, mounted, or on a flight; "Remind me out of combat" turns them off.
- Move the icon in Edit Mode, like the rest of your interface. The rest of the time clicks go through it.
- A note above the icon says when big cooldowns or the interrupt alert are off, or area attacks are always on, so nobody wonders why a spell never comes up.
- "This suggestion was wrong": a key binding (and
/kr wrong) saves what Kairos showed and what was happening, for review. Add what you expected with/kr wrongand a note. - Masque skins the icons.
- The settings page and messages in German, French, Spanish, Russian, and Chinese.
- Every icon shows its spell's cooldown, on the next spell, the ones after it, and the interrupt: the
swipe, and the seconds left for cooldowns longer than the global cooldown. "Show cooldown numbers"
on the settings page or
/kr numbersturns the numbers off. - Racials: Blood Fury, Berserking, Elune's Light, and Eureka! are suggested with your other cooldowns (cooldowns toggle), for the race that has them, with the racials as beta build 70425 reworked them. Spell data from beta build 70450.
- Works on every client language.
- Settings page under Options > AddOns, grouped into Icon, Suggestions, Action bars, Reminders, and Help improve Kairos, with what each setting does and why you would change it in its tooltip. Also in the minimap addon menu, with key bindings for the cooldowns, area attack, and interrupt toggles.
- The interrupt alert fades out for casts that cannot be interrupted.
- Debuffs are remembered per target, so switching back does not ask to reapply them.
- Range: icons turn red when out of range, as on Blizzard's bars, and melee abilities wait for melee range.
- Combo points are counted in combat; rage is never guessed.
- Newly learned ranks replace the old ones on your action bars; this can be turned off.
- Lighter on the CPU while the icon is hidden.
- A bug shows one chat line instead of an error popup.
- Mana and energy estimates in combat are corrected whenever the game says you are short of (or have enough for) a spell.
- With the game's Cooldown Manager on, buffs and debuffs it tracks are followed in combat.
- "Save combat data for tuning", under Help improve Kairos on the settings page (off by default): the game writes its combat log and Kairos saves your character's stats, so the suggestions can be tuned against real fights. Nothing leaves your computer.
