Jukebox

A soundboard for World of Warcraft. Click a sound and everyone in your party, raid or guild who has Jukebox hears it, with a short line in the chat:

[JB][Kenzu] World of Warcraft Raid bosses ragnaros_purge

The last word is the name of the sound: type /jb ragnaros_purge to play it yourself.

Jukebox works on WoW Midnight (retail) and WoW Forever.

What's included

  • World of Warcraft: 51 sounds from the game itself (raid bosses, C'Thun, dungeons, peons, emotes, interface). No extra file, they come from your game client.
  • Classical: 17 short extracts of famous classical pieces (Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Grieg, Wagner, Strauss…), from free recordings.

More sounds come in packs, available separately as their own addons: movie quotes, music, memes, raid moments (pull, wipe, loot…), greetings… Install only the ones you like. To hear a sound, you need the pack it comes from.

Features

  • A window in the style of the game journals: sounds sorted by pack and section, a search box, and a random button.
  • Favorites: your most played sounds, plus the ones you pin.
  • New: the sounds added in the latest version of your packs. Sounds you have never heard are shown in green.
  • Right-click a sound to preview it alone, send it to your target only, pin it, or make a macro of it.
  • Choose who hears your sounds: auto (raid, otherwise party, otherwise guild), party, guild, or one player.
  • One sound at a time, so nobody can spam: while a sound plays, the next ones are only shown in the chat.
  • Built-in help in English and French (the i button).

Commands

Command What it does
/jb Opens or closes the window (a Jukebox macro is also created for your action bars)
/jb ragnaros_purge Plays a sound by its name
/jb pull Plays a random sound with the tag PULL (also death, down, classic…)
/jb wow dungeons Plays a random sound from a section
/jb _raid pull Sends to a specific channel: _party, _raid, _guild, _target or _<player>
/jb _stop Stops the current sound for you only

The group leader can silence everyone:

Command What it does
/jbadmin mute 5 Mutes the sounds of the whole group for 5 minutes (120 max)
/jbadmin unmute Unmutes them
/jbadmin stop Stops the current sound for everyone (also allowed to the player who sent it)

Good to know

  • The sounds play on the Sound Effects volume of the game. Untick Hear the sounds at the bottom of the window to hear nothing at all.
  • During boss fights, PvP matches and Mythic+ keys, the game blocks addon messages: no sound goes through.
  • After installing a new pack, restart the game: a /reload does not find new sound files.
  • Players without Jukebox see and hear nothing. If you miss a pack, or have another version, one line tells you once and its sounds are then ignored silently.

Make your own pack

A pack is just a folder with .ogg sounds, a .toc file and a pack.lua file listing the sounds.

The easiest way is to copy the Classical pack, which is laid out exactly like a standalone pack: copy Jukebox/Pack/Jukebox_Classic into Interface/AddOns, rename the folder and its .toc (for example Jukebox_MyPack), replace the sounds, then change the id, the name and the sound list in pack.lua.

The Jukebox/Tools/make_pack.py script (Python 3, and ffmpeg for mp3/wav files) can also do it for you: put your sounds in a folder, one sub folder per section, and run it on that folder. It converts the sounds and writes pack.lua and the .toc.

To share a pack, just send the folder to your friends.
