Description

Journey Tracker

Journey Tracker records your character's road from level 1 to 60 in WoW Forever: every level, kill, death, quest, zone, coin and item along the way. It saves a snapshot each time you level up and shows it all in an in-game window laid out like the classic quest log. Paste its export on the website for a Wrapped-style recap of your journey, see where you rank against other players, and compare your run with a friend's.

Website: www.journeytracker.dev · Source code: GitHub

Getting started

  1. Install the addon. It starts recording as soon as you log in.
  2. Type /journey (or /jt), or click the gold JT button on your minimap, to open your journey.
  3. For your recap, click Export at the bottom of the window, press Ctrl+C and paste it at www.journeytracker.dev.

What it tracks

Time and pace

  • /played in total and for every level, with the date and time of every ding
  • Your fastest and slowest levels, XP per hour, and your most productive hour of play
  • Play sessions (how many, average and longest, and the most levels gained in one), days played and the hours of the day you play
  • Time spent mounted, in combat, resting, on flight paths, AFK and dead, and time questing vs grinding

Leveling and quests

  • Where you were for every ding, and what pushed you over: a quest, a kill or exploring
  • Your XP split between quests, kills and exploration, rested XP used, and solo vs grouped XP
  • Quests completed per level and per zone, quests abandoned, gold from quests, and the quest you held the longest
  • Every spell and rank you learned and the level you learned it, and your talent points in the order you spent them

Combat

  • Kills per level, your most-killed mobs, elites, rares and creature types
  • The highest-level mob you've beaten, elites you soloed, and mobs 5 or more levels above you
  • Fights, your longest fight, time in combat and the most mobs on you at once
  • Rares spotted and killed, and the first rare you ever killed

Deaths

  • Every death: where it happened (on the map in your recap), what killed you, and how you came back: corpse run, spirit healer or a resurrection
  • Your longest run of levels without dying, your longest stretch alive, and your time as a ghost
  • The embarrassing ones: drowned, fell, killed by town guards, died while AFK, seconds after a ding, twice in one minute, or with your Hearthstone ready to go

Dungeons and PvP

  • Dungeon runs with clear times, your fastest clear of each, wipes, bosses killed and deaths by boss
  • Who fell first in a wipe, your role (tank, healer or damage) and your party's classes
  • Honorable kills and enemy players killed by class and level (never names), ganks given and taken, corpse camps and time flagged
  • Battlegrounds: wins and losses, killing blows, flags and bases, and your PvP rank
  • Duels won and lost, by your opponent's class

Exploration and travel

  • Every zone in the order you reached it, subzones discovered, and time spent in each zone
  • Where on each zone's map you spent that time, for the heat map on your recap
  • Hearthstone uses, flight paths found and flights taken, boat and zeppelin rides, and distance traveled on foot, mounted, swimming and as a ghost
  • Falls: total distance fallen and the longest fall you survived

Gold, loot and gear

  • Gold earned and spent, and where it went: quests, vendors, looting, the auction house, training, repairs and flights
  • Your gold at every level, your peak gold, and your first 1, 10 and 100 gold
  • Items looted by quality, your best item, your first green, blue and epic, and every item "of the Monkey", "of the Bear" and the rest
  • Your character sheet at every ding: stats, armor, health, mana, attack and spell power, crit, resistances and average item level
  • A snapshot of your gear every 10 levels, the gear you wore the longest, items broken and your biggest repair bill

Professions

  • Professions learned and how they rose, items crafted and cooked, and recipes learned
  • Herbs picked, ore mined and creatures skinned, what each gave, and cloth looted by type
  • Fishing: casts, catch rate and every fish by type
  • Engineering explosives thrown and gadgets used, items disenchanted and potions made

Your class

  • Warrior: time in each stance, Charges and Intercepts, Executes, shouts and the "oh no" buttons
  • Paladin: time with each seal and aura, Judgements, blessings, and every bubble hearth
  • Hunter: ammo used, pets tamed (and their deaths), time in each aspect, traps and Feign Death
  • Rogue: time in Stealth, openers, Pick Pocket loot, poisons applied and finishers
  • Priest: shields and heals cast, time in Shadowform, Psychic Scream and time spent wanding
  • Shaman: totems dropped by element, time in Ghost Wolf, Reincarnations, weapon imbues and shocks
  • Mage: food and water conjured, teleports and portals, Polymorphs, Blinks and Ice Blocks
  • Warlock: soul shards gained and spent, demons summoned (and lost), healthstones, soulstones and summons
  • Druid: time in each form, form shifts, time in Prowl, heals, Rebirths and Innervates
  • Everyone: bandages, potions, food and drink, buffs from other classes, racials, class trainer visits and class quests, and an estimate of the healing you've done

WoW Forever

  • Skyborne: your time on Zephras Isle and the faction you chose
  • New race and class combinations, and your realm's ruleset
  • When you first reached Riverglades, Shen'dralas and Mount Hyjal
  • New Forever quests and dungeons vs Classic ones
  • Camping: camps set up, time at campfires, camp buffs and camp vendors
  • Map areas explored at each level, and transmog changes

Social

  • Time grouped vs solo, groups joined, and how many different players you've grouped with (a count, never names)
  • The level you joined a guild, and the "gz" your dings got
  • Chat messages sent by channel and your most-typed words (counts only), emotes used and received, trades and friends added
  • Loot rolls: Need, Greed and Pass, rolls won and lost, and your highest and lowest roll
  • Reputation with every faction, and the level you reached each standing

The little things

  • Creature families: murlocs, kobolds, gnolls, quilboar, harpies, Defias and dozens more, and the biggest murloc train you survived
  • Iconic moments: Hogger, VanCleef, Mankrik's wife, the Green Hills of Stranglethorn, the Undercity elevator, and every boat and zeppelin ride
  • Bloopers: every red error message ("You are facing the wrong way", "Out of range", "Not enough mana") and the one you hit most
  • Firsts: your first quest, group, flight, enemy player kill, duel won and Exalted reputation, and the ding to 60 itself: where, when and who was with you (classes only)
  • Habits: late-night dings, your sessions with the most kills and deaths, /reloads and screenshots, with an optional screenshot at every ding

The game's own Statistics pane

WoW Forever's Statistics pane counts from your character's first day. Journey Tracker reads it at every level-up, so totals like quests completed, kills and deaths are right even if you installed the addon partway to 60.

Your recap on the website

Paste an export at www.journeytracker.dev and you get:

  • A Wrapped-style recap: your route across Azeroth on the game's own world map, a heat map of where you spent your time, every death on the map, your time at every level, and chapters for quests, gold, gear, PvP, dungeons and more
  • Rankings: where you place among everyone's saved journeys at your milestone, among all players or just your class, race, faction or realm type
  • One link per character: paste a newer export as you level and the same link shows it, with what changed since your last save
  • Compare: your journey side by side with a friend's: the time each of you took to every ten levels, kills, deaths, quests and where each of you ranks
  • A share card: posting your link on Discord or elsewhere shows a card with your level, /played and best rankings

Every 10 levels, the addon also saves your journey as it was when you got there, and a small window offers to export it while it's fresh. Share your road to 10, 20, 30 and on, even after you've passed it, and see how you rank against others at the same level. A journey shared long after reaching its level is ranked only on the time it took, so nobody's fresh 60 is up against one that's been 60 for weeks.

Privacy

  • Exports never include your character's name or realm, other players' names, or chat.
  • Other players' names are never saved, and chat is never stored: the addon counts the messages you send and the words you type most (not in whispers, and never a name), nothing else.
  • Nothing leaves the game by itself. Addons can't reach the internet or the rest of your computer, so your data stays in your saved variables until you choose to share an export.
  • Pasting an export on the website saves it so it counts toward the rankings. Anyone you give your link to can see your recap, but never your name or realm.

Good to know

  • Stats are saved per character and kept when you update the addon.
  • Tracking starts when you install it. On a character that's already leveling, everything from then on is recorded, and the Statistics pane fills in the lifetime totals.
  • Options, the button at the bottom of the window, turns off the export pop-up, the screenshot at every ding and the minimap button.
  • /journey backup saves a second copy of your data, just in case.
  • On the website, each character can be saved once every 30 minutes. The journeys saved every 10 levels always go through.
  • This is an early version, made during the WoW Forever beta. Some stats are still being checked in game, so bug reports and ideas are very welcome.

Commands

  • /journey or /jt: open the window
  • /journey export: copy your journey to paste at www.journeytracker.dev (same as the Export button)
  • /journey export 30: your journey as it was at level 30 (saved every 10 levels)
  • /journey summary: print a short summary to chat (same as Print to Chat)
  • /journey options: open the Options page
  • /journey screenshots: turn the screenshot at every ding off (it's on to start), or back on
  • /journey minimap: hide the minimap button, or bring it back
  • /journey backup: save a backup copy of your data
  • /journey stats: show what's been read from the game's Statistics pane
  • /journey status: list the game events and functions your client doesn't have (handy for bug reports)
  • /journey version: show which version you have
