Interrupt Highlight

Highlights ready interrupts on action bars and Blizzard Cooldown Manager when an enemy can be interrupted.

Summary

Highlights ready interrupts on action bars and Blizzard Cooldown Manager when watched enemies cast interruptible spells.

Interrupt Highlight

Interrupt Highlight helps you see when your true interrupt is ready while an enemy you are watching casts an interruptible spell. Choose which enemies to watch and whether highlighting should require the casting enemy to be in range. You still choose your target and press the ability yourself.

Features

  • Action-bar and Blizzard Cooldown Manager highlighting.
  • Target only or All visible enemies (current target plus active enemy nameplates).
  • Optional Only in range, with updates during active casts.
  • Cooldown-ready gating that ignores the global cooldown.
  • Classic WoW Glow, Modern WoW Glow, and Blizzard Assisted Highlight.
  • Adjustable glow color and size, an appearance preview, and a draggable minimap button.
  • Automatic startup discovery, cache recovery, and manual scanning.
  • Focus macro generator and a macro-only catalog of known targetable stuns.

Cooldown Manager support

Enable Blizzard's Cooldown Manager and display your interrupt in it, then enable Highlight Cooldown Manager in Interrupt Highlight. Viewer icons use the same glow styles and cast, range, and cooldown gates as action buttons; an action-bar slot is not required for supported spell APIs.

The integration uses Blizzard's active viewer items. Cache updates wait until combat ends, secret or inaccessible spell IDs are skipped, and highlights clear when Blizzard's viewer is disabled.

Focus macro generator

The settings panel lists detected interrupts and supported targetable stuns known in your spellbook. These optional character-specific focus macros first cast the ability on a valid hostile Focus target without changing your current target. If no valid Focus exists, the macro temporarily uses Focus to remember your current target, selects an enemy, casts the interrupt or stun, restores your previous target, clears the temporary Focus, and resumes auto-attack.

The addon does not automatically execute macros or place them on an action bar. Explicitly choose Create macro, then drag its spell icon to an action bar. Review the generated body before use; macros require your keypress.

Refresh macro reapplies the current template and icon in place. Update macro updates a recognized generated macro. An edited owned macro is marked Modified and is replaced only when you choose Restore generated macro. Unrelated macros are not overwritten, and the addon does not automatically delete macros.

The stun catalog includes Asphyxiate, Mighty Bash, Maim, Fel Eruption, Intimidation, Hammer of Justice, Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, and Storm Bolt when known. These are macro candidates only; they do not receive runtime interrupt glow through catalog membership.

Commands

  • /ih or /interrupthighlight — settings.
  • /ih scan — bounded manual action-bar scan, deferred in combat.
  • /ih on / /ih off — toggle highlighting.
  • /ih status — current settings and discovery status.
  • /ih test — five-second appearance preview.
  • /ih color R G B — RGB values from 0 to 1.
  • /ih reset — default settings.

Left-click the minimap icon for settings; right-click to toggle highlighting.

Notes and limitations

  • World of Warcraft Retail 12.1.0; Interface 120100.
  • All-visible mode depends on active nameplates, not every nearby enemy.
  • Unknown or unsupported readiness/range information hides the glow.
  • Stuns may be ineffective against immune enemies and are not true interrupts.
  • Macro creation, editing, and dragging require being out of combat and respect the game's macro limits.
  • Custom action bars must expose usable action-slot metadata. A late-loading bar may need /ih scan.
  • The appearance preview intentionally bypasses normal cast, cooldown, and range gates.
  • Startup/manual global scans are bounded. There is no continuous global frame scanning; cast-active updates are throttled to 0.20 seconds.

Compatibility and installation

Standalone: no external addon libraries or EllesmereUI dependency. Blizzard UI components and referenced textures come from the game client.

Extract the InterruptHighlight folder into _retail_/Interface/AddOns/, then restart WoW or reload the UI.
