What's new

1.4.0

Support for WoW Classic Forever. Era, TBC and Vanilla are unchanged by this release; everything below is about getting the addon working on the new client.

It loads and runs on Forever

  • New Forever build. Install it and the addon comes up on the beta client the same as anywhere else. Your settings, profiles and saved data carry over.
  • No more blocked action popup. The addon was tripping the client's protection on every reload, which put a "blocked from an action" dialog on screen offering to disable it. That is gone.
  • Two modules no longer fail to start. The professions scanner and the loot council both stopped partway through starting up on this client. Both start cleanly now.
  • Dual spec is detected properly. Forever reports itself as Classic, so the addon assumed no dual spec. It now asks the client rather than guessing, so anything built on dual spec behaves.

What Forever will not let addons do

  • The raid cooldown tracker cannot work on Forever. It reads the combat log to see who used what, and this client does not allow addons to read the combat log at all. There is no workaround from the addon's side. The tracker is unaffected on Era and TBC.
  • Auto marking still works from mouseover, but not from the combat log, so marks that used to appear as a pull started now need you to mouse over.
  • Professions rescans when you open a tradeskill, but no longer updates live while it is open, because this client does not send those updates.
  • Loot tracking is unaffected in practice. It lost one of its ten triggers; looting, boss kills and encounter ends all still fire.

Diagnostics

  • /iddqd taint reports what this client permits and which of the addon's calls exist, which is what identified the problems above.
  • /iddqd blocked lists anything the client refused since login, naming the call.
