First-Time Setup

To enable spell and ability name searching, build the spell cache once after logging in:

/ifpcache

This generates a searchable cache of spell names used by Icon Finder Plus.

Once complete, you can search using either:

• Icon FileDataIDs (e.g. 1305159)
• Exact spell names (e.g. Regrowth, Bestial Wrath, Throw Glaive, Eye Beam)

The cache only needs to be rebuilt when necessary, such as after major game updates that add new spells or abilities.

Notes About Spell Name Searches

Spell and ability name searching is provided as a convenience feature and relies on Blizzard's spell data.

In some cases, multiple spells may share the same name, use legacy spell records, or reference icons that are not available within the current Blizzard icon picker. When this occurs, the addon may report that the icon could not be found even though the spell name was successfully resolved.

If a spell name search does not locate the desired icon, use the icon's FileDataID instead. Direct Icon ID searches are the most accurate and reliable way to locate specific icons and will always take priority when available.

Example:

• Spell Search: Collapsing Star → May resolve to a legacy or alternate spell icon.
• Icon ID Search: 7554199 → Jumps directly to the correct icon.
• Icon IDs can be found on WoWHead

For the best results, use exact Icon FileDataIDs whenever possible.
