House Tour

A raid-synced organizer for player-housing tours: a shared house queue, a per-stop countdown, and in-addon submissions, all run by the raid leader.

Description

House Tour is a control panel for running house tours with a raid group. It keeps the running order, runs a per-stop timer, collects house submissions, and posts progress to chat. There is no teleporting; it is an organisation and timing tool, not a travel tool.

Only the tour guide needs the addon. You can run a whole tour solo: gather addresses however you like (whisper, chat, a spreadsheet), type them in with Add House, and drive the tour from the panel. Guests who also install it get a smoother experience — they see the queue and the countdown and can submit their own house — but nothing about the tour depends on them having it.

Setting up a tour

  • The raid leader (or an assist) clicks Create House Tour and sets minutes per house, auto-advance, whether submissions need approval, whether people may submit more than one house, and whether raid assists can run the tour.
  • The tour opens in a lobby. Submissions fill the queue while nothing plays. When the line-up looks good, click Start Tour. Cancel Tour next to it scraps a lobby you opened by mistake.
  • The guide's client is the authority. It broadcasts the whole tour state to the raid on every change plus a heartbeat, so everyone with the addon stays in sync.

Submissions

  • Guests click Submit My House and enter their address (prefilled from the house they are standing in), a public note everyone sees on hover, and a private note to the guide that only the guide and privileged assists see.
  • Changed your mind? An x on your own row pulls your house back out, whether it is in the queue or still waiting for approval. You cannot remove the stop being visited right now.
  • The guide can reorder the queue, remove entries, Randomize the not-yet-visited houses, Add House by hand for people not running the addon, and toggle Accepting submissions.

Running the tour

  • A big countdown and a drain bar show the time left on the current stop.
  • Next jumps to the next house and resets the timer. Pause freezes the clock. End finishes; Restart on the ended screen picks the tour back up where it left off.
  • -1:00 and +1:00 trim or add a minute to the current stop on the fly. Wrap Up cuts it to one minute left. Everyone's countdown updates.
  • Announce posts the current status to chat. Post List sends the whole running order. Auto-announce fires the status at the start of every house.

Roles

  • Next to the House Tour title is your role for this tour: Tour Guide (you are the host), Assist (you are a co-guide), or Tourist. A colour on the header's left edge matches it, and hovering the tag explains what the role can do.
  • Raid assists as co-guides: with "Raid assists can run the tour" enabled, any raid assistant gets the whole control set, sees the pending queue and private notes, and can approve or reject submissions. Their actions route to the host, who verifies them, so there is still one source of truth.
  • Promoting a new raid leader hands them the tour. When raid leadership changes, the new leader's client takes over hosting automatically, with the queue, timer, and notes carried over. If the new leader is not running the addon, nothing changes and the old host keeps it.

Hiding the queue

The guide can toggle Hide Queue to keep the house list and the "next" house secret from everyone who is not a guide, for tours where the line-up is meant to be a reveal. Non-guides see "Tour queue currently hidden" with the house count; a submitter still sees their own row with the x to pull it. Guides always see the full list.

Settings

Open with the header gear or /ht settings. Everything here is saved between sessions.

  • Announce text — rewrite the three automatic announcements (lobby, in-progress, wrap-up) with tokens: %o owner, %a address, %A next address, %O next owner, %c position, %t total, %r time left, %d minutes per house, %h host, %s submission status, %% a literal percent. Each field has a live preview and a character count, with Reset to restore the built-in wording.
  • Announce channel — Automatic (raid warning if you can, else raid/party), Raid Warning, Raid/Party, Say, or Off.
  • Window — panel size, reset window position, reload UI.
  • Misc — show or hide the walkthrough button, show or hide the hover tips on the option checkboxes, and a chime when the tour reaches a house you submitted.

Staying in sync

  • If the guide reloads or relogs, their tour is saved and restored (up to 15 minutes) and re-broadcast, so a /reload does not wipe it.
  • If the guide is gone longer, the tour shows "(disconnected)" and any raid leader or assist gets a Take over tour button.

Window & walkthrough

  • Drag to move. _ minimizes to a thin status bar in the same spot. x hides it; /ht brings it back.
  • ? opens a guided walkthrough: a practice tour with a floating coach that steps through the guide and guest views and highlights each control. Nothing in the walkthrough is sent or broadcast.

Slash commands

Command Effect
/ht or /housetour show or hide the window
/ht settings open Settings
/ht help open the walkthrough
/ht sync re-request the current tour state from the host
/ht reset drop the tour on your client (does not end it for others)

Notes

  • Group scoped — it uses the raid or party addon channel, so the tour only reaches people in your group.
  • Address is free text. An owned-houses dropdown is planned for when the housing API reliably returns that list.
  • The pending list and private notes travel in the broadcast tour state, so they are private by interface, not by encryption. Don't put anything in a private note you would mind a determined person seeing.
