HideChat is a lightweight yet powerful World of Warcraft addon that gives you full control over your chat window. With a single click or a simple slash command, you can completely hide or restore your chat whenever you want. Whether you're tired of spam, want to mute toxic players, or simply enjoy a clean, distraction-free UI in Azeroth — HideChat is made for you.

💡 Why Use HideChat

Not every moment in WoW needs the constant flood of messages. Sometimes Trade Chat spam, whispers, or guild chatter can be overwhelming. Sometimes you want to take a stunning screenshot without the chat box in the way. Maybe you’re immersed in roleplay or questing and want to keep your UI clean. Or you’re focusing on raids, dungeons, or PvP and need to clear visual noise.

HideChat lets you instantly switch between immersive gameplay and full communication. Nothing is deleted — your chat is simply hidden until you choose to bring it back.

⚙️ Installation & Usage

1. Download and extract the addon.

2. Copy the folder into the correct AddOns directory for your client:
   🟦 Retail → _retail_/Interface/AddOns/
   🟨 MoP (5.5.1) → _classic_/Interface/AddOns/
   🟩 Classic Era (1.15.7) → _classic_era_/Interface/AddOns/

3. Log into WoW and reload your UI if necessary.

4. A “Chat” toggle button will appear on the left side of your screen.

5. Click the button or type /hc to hide or show your chat whenever you want.

6. Drag the button to your preferred position — HideChat will remember it automatically.

🌍 Compatibility

HideChat works with Retail, Classic Era, and MoP (5.5.1) clients. It does not modify or interfere with your friends list, QuickJoin panel, voice chat buttons, or other addons. It focuses purely on your chat window — clean, simple, effective.
