HexLoot: Personal In-Game Database

Never alt-tab again. HexLoot is a powerful, lightweight, and fully interactive in-game encyclopedia for World of Warcraft: Forever. It acts as your personal "Wowhead," recording every beast you slay, every node you gather, and every item that drops.

Whether you are exploring the world solo or farming with your guild, HexLoot meticulously builds a localized database of drop rates, average loot values, and gathering locations, presenting it all in a highly advanced, customizable UI.

Technical Note & API Limitations

Blizzard's modern UI architecture in WoW: Forever introduces strict addon restrictions compared to traditional Classic or legacy Retail client APIs:

No Combat Log Parsing: COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED is restricted for third-party addons. HexLoot cannot track kills silently in the background via combat logs. Instead, data is collected directly when you open loot windows (LOOT_OPENED) and cache target/mouseover entities.

Protected & Secret Values: The client utilizes protected "secret values" for certain unit states, which makes certain functions difficult to code. There are many workarounds implemented in HexLoot. Some better and some worse but with the mindset the have the most possibly accurate database. 

Asynchronous Data Loading: Item information is fetched dynamically via modern C_Item APIs and may take a split second to cache from the server.

Data Accuracy Expectation: Because data relies on opening loot containers, corpses that are left unlooted or kills made by group members out of loot range will not be recorded. While this means database counts represent looted corpses rather than total raw combat kills, it delivers an extremely reliable and realistic statistical overview for general farming, drop estimation, and loot tracking!

Comprehensive Bestiary & Drop Tracker

Automatically logs mob kills and node gathers (Mining, Herbalism, Chests). It tracks every item dropped, calculating precise drop percentages and the average money (copper value) yielded per kill.

Live Group & Guild Synchronization

HexLoot automatically and seamlessly syncs drop data with party, raid, and guild members who also use the addon. Watch your drop rate accuracy skyrocket as your friends contribute to your database in real-time!

Manual Database Sharing

Want to help a friend catch up? Use the Manual Sync feature to send your entire compiled database to any online friend safely in the background.

Advanced Layout Engine GUI

Say goodbye to static, clunky windows. HexLoot features a custom-built, responsive data grid:

Drag-to-Resize Columns: Adjust the width of any column on the fly.

Deep Filtering: Filter by Item Level, Rarity, Equip Slot, Item Type, Mob Classification (Elite/Rare/Boss), and Zone.

Smart Search: Search by mob name, node name, or specific item to instantly see where it drops.

Map & Minimap Integration

HexLoot remembers where you find resources. It tracks geographic density and automatically places customizable pins on your World Map and Minimap for nodes you've gathered.

Smart Tooltip Integration

Instantly see Loot counts, drop rates, and average loot values when hovering over mobs, resource nodes, or items in your bags. (Can be bound to a modifier key like SHIFT/ALT so it only shows when you want it to).

Built specifically for WoW Forever's unique environment, HexLoot is optimized for minimal memory overhead:

Data Caps: Set maximum tracking limits (e.g., stop recording after 3,000 kills) to keep memory usage minimal.

Combat Safety: Auto-close features and audio warnings ensure the UI never blocks your screen when combat starts.

Customizable Aesthetics: Adjust window transparency, background textures, and minimap button placement to fit your UI perfectly.

Getting Started

• Type /hexloot or click the Minimap button to open the main interface.
• Head out into the world and start looting! The database will build itself automatically.
• Use the Settings tab to adjust your data caps, tooltip modifiers, and background aesthetics.
  
  DISCLAIMER! - This addon started as a hobby project, however, I decided to share this project with others, since I think it can be quite useful and fun to use. Also as the some old methods of retail API don't work anymore, I wanted to find my own solutions.
