Heroic Journal

Your hero's life written as a lore book while you play, with a roleplay Bio and a shared guild book for events, raids and attendance.

Your hero deserves a book.

Heroic Journal writes your character's life as a lore book while you play: every new zone, rare slain, dungeon cleared, duel won, inn rested at and level reached, with the day it happened and the time of day in Azeroth. You write the rest: their story, their beliefs, their rivals, notes in the margin, a line in the journal whenever you like.

Nothing to set up. Install it, log in, and the book starts writing. Open it with /journal, the journal tab on your Character window, or the minimap button.

Hero Bio, for roleplayers

  • A roleplay profile for each hero: who they are, their story, where they came from, what they believe, who they hold close, what drives them, and what they're doing right now.
  • Lore questions that fit your hero's race, class and faction (a Troll's tribe, a Shaman's element, a Forsaken's life before).
  • Name ideas from what your hero has actually done ("the Kolkar-Bane", "of the Barrens").
  • Share it: players with Heroic Journal right-click you and choose "View Hero's Journal", or paste your share code from Discord. Your "Known as" and "Currently" appear on their tooltip. You choose who can read it; your secret answer never leaves your game.

A book that writes itself

  • Chapters of ten levels: the ledger (earned and spent, by where it came from), the chapter in numbers, and a timeline of firsts and milestones with evidence badges ("Slain, confirmed by the game" or "Encountered").
  • Stats: the tale so far, proudest moments, favourite places, dungeons and fastest clears, rares, most slain, fellow travellers, records, and your hero at every level with the gear and attributes they had.
  • Accomplishments: the book's own achievements, counted from everything it recorded, plus Forever's.
  • Collections: your account's mounts, companions and toys; people you know (with your own notes); rare gear; rares and bosses; places and inns; spells; reputations.
  • At 60: the book carries on a month at a time.
  • Atlas map: your discovered zones and flight paths pinned on the continent's own map.
  • Raids: who was there (the whole raid), raid bosses and clears, raid accomplishments.
  • PvP: honorable kills, battlegrounds won and lost, duels, and your nemesis.
  • Coming home after days on the road, creature kinds and families slain, and an evening entry offered at the inn to write a line about your day.
  • Copy a chapter as text to post anywhere, and low resource mode for older PCs.

Your guild's book: the same for everyone

Every member who uses Heroic Journal keeps a full copy of the guild's book, and the copies keep themselves in step (no website, no other addon): changes merge, nothing is lost when two officers edit at once, and a missed message heals within minutes.

  • Guild hall: the mission and when the guild was established, the guild in numbers (members, online, journals kept, average level), every class and every level range as columns you can click through to the roster, and At a glance: the next event, newest notes, open bounties, raid progress.
  • Events and raids: anyone plans a raid, dungeon run, PvP night or a party in Goldshire. Members sign up, say they're interested or can't go, and pick their role; the organiser and officers pick the lineup (with tanks and healers wanted, standby, slots left and the class mix), invite the lineup with one click, and copy it for Discord. A week strip shows what's coming; weekly raids are one click to plan again; reminders 15 minutes before.
  • Attendance keeps itself: each journal says when its hero turned up grouped with guildmates. Attendance lists every member's events attended and how reliable they are.
  • Raid progress: every raid boss the guild has brought down, with the date and raid size, recorded by officers' journals in guild raids.
  • Hall of heroes: guildmates ranked by renown, level, accomplishments, events attended, creatures slain, quests, dungeon runs, honorable kills.
  • Goals that count themselves ("Slay 30,000 foes together"), a notice board with replies, history and chronicle, allies and rivals, bounties with claims and a ledger, roles on the roster.
  • Export the guild as data for a guild website or spreadsheet.

Your library and your papers

  • My library: every character's journal on one shelf; open any of them, read-only, as it was at their last logout.
  • Fill from my hero: the Bio offers what the game already knows (name, birthplace, languages, title, height and build in your race's terms), and every empty answer shows your hero's own until you write your own.
  • Hero ID (/heroid): papers of identity with your hero's portrait, a wax seal and your signature, to show others.

The timeline

  • An icon for every kind of moment, each quest you turn in as its own line, and every level closed with a summary: quests, creatures slain (the most slain by name), money made, what you gathered, miles travelled.
  • Recipes you learn, spells by level, professions, reputations, titles and mounts, all written in as they happen.

Find anything

  • Search the whole journal (Ctrl+F): moments, your notes, people, places, accomplishments, pages. Click a result to go straight there.

Honest by design

Everything printed is confirmed by the game. Everything you add is in handwriting. Chapters from before you installed it say so instead of making things up. No combat log is used.
