Heads Up

Heads Up announces incoming tank busters out loud. When a boss is about to use one, it speaks the ability name through the game's text-to-speech voice and counts down to the hit:

"Blade Combo, tank buster in 5" … "3" … "2" … "1"

Heads Up adds nothing to your screen. There are no bars, icons or frames to position. All of its output is spoken, so it works alongside any UI setup.

How it changes your game

Tanks have a lot to watch during a boss fight: positioning, adds, ground effects, cooldowns and the rest of the group. BigWigs already shows a timer for every boss ability, but reading it means looking away from the fight at the moment it matters most.

With Heads Up, the warning comes to you:

• You hear which ability is coming. Different tank busters call for different responses, and the ability name tells you which one it is without reading anything.
• You know exactly when to use your defensive. The countdown ends on the hit, so "3, 2, 1" is a clear cue for Ironfur, Shield Block, Fortifying Brew or your class's equivalent. This avoids using a cooldown too early and having it expire before the damage lands.
• Only tank busters are announced. Other abilities stay on your BigWigs bars and sounds as usual, so the voice is always relevant to you.
• It is silent when you are not tanking. By default, Heads Up only speaks while your current specialization is a tank spec, so there is nothing to turn off when you play another role.

It is particularly useful in Mythic+, on characters where boss timings are not yet familiar, and for players who prefer audio cues to visual ones.

How it works

Heads Up does not maintain its own boss database. It listens to BigWigs and LittleWigs, which identify each boss timer and flag the abilities that target the tank. Heads Up selects those timers and reads them aloud.

As a result, it supports every dungeon and raid boss that BigWigs and LittleWigs cover, and new encounters are supported as soon as those addons are updated.
