What's new

Changelog

1.2.5

What's New

  • The title now sits on an illustrated gold ribbon banner instead of plain text in the header band -- a shallow bowed scroll with a scalloped hem and twisted, forked tail ends on both sides. The title itself is set in a proper display serif (the game's own quest-title face) in a deep red instead of the standard UI font.

1.2.4

Fixed

  • The Roster tab's Paid checkbox sat mostly underneath the Remove button (only about 4 of its 18 pixels were actually clickable) -- moved clear of it.
  • Roster entrant names were centering inside their name column instead of sitting next to the faction icon like everywhere else in the addon.
  • Typing a new entry fee or bonus gold amount and clicking away instead of pressing Enter silently discarded it on the next refresh, with nothing telling you it hadn't saved. Both fields now commit either way.
  • Hardened the prize item drag-and-drop path for items this client hasn't loaded data for yet: it now explicitly requests the item's data instead of only relying on a side effect that doesn't reliably cover every item class, and times out after 8 seconds with a clear message instead of waiting forever with no feedback.

1.2.3

Fixed

  • Removing a prize item did nothing. It was actually being removed from the list under the hood, but the host's own window never redrew to show it -- fixed, along with the same miss on editing the entry fee, bonus gold, and split mode, which all had the same silent-no-refresh bug.
  • Dragging some items onto the prize pool silently did nothing. An item this client hasn't cached data for yet hands back no chat link from the cursor, only its item ID -- the drop handler was throwing that case away instead of falling back to the ID, which the existing "fetching item data" retry already knew how to handle.

1.2.2

Fixed

  • The How-To tab was blank. It was wired into the tab strip but never actually built, so switching to it just hid every other tab with nothing to show in their place. It's populated now.
  • /hdc needed to be typed twice to open the window the first time. The window frame is now built already hidden, so the very first toggle opens it instead of immediately closing the copy that had just silently appeared and disappeared.
  • Dragging an item onto the Prizes drop box did nothing. It was built as a plain frame, which never actually receives an item drag in this client -- it needed to be a button, same as every drag target Blizzard's own UI uses.
  • The Prizes tab showed stale, unusable settings with no tournament running. It now clearly says so instead of leaving old numbers on screen in fields that don't do anything.

Changed

  • Cleaned up the Prizes tab's entry fee / bonus gold / split mode layout into three clearly labeled, aligned columns, with the gold pot total given its own highlighted line instead of being crammed in in a spot that made it easy to miss.
  • The title bar pennants now carry the Hated Gaming crest instead of the clenched-fist/lion crests.

1.2.1

Added

  • A How-To tab next to Roster/Bracket/Prizes with a full walkthrough of running a tournament, playing a match, and prizes -- no more digging through Discord to remember how something works.
  • Tournaments now cap at 32 entrants (a clean 5-round bracket, comfortably under a full raid). The Roster tab shows the count as x/32, and Sign Up disables itself and says so once it's full.
  • The Prizes item pool is now a drag-and-drop box instead of a paste-a- link text field -- drag an item onto it to add it straight to the prize pool.

Fixed

  • The "You're Up!" Ready/Forfeit prompt could get stuck on screen forever after a match ended by forfeit, or by the host manually confirming a winner from the Bracket tab -- only a self-reported real-duel result was ever closing it. It now closes for every way a match can end.

1.2.0

What's New

  • A whole new look. The window background is now bespoke art (a rich, fully opaque leather-panel texture with its own gold double-border and a subtle embossed crossed-blades watermark) instead of Blizzard's stock, thin-looking dialog box texture.
  • The Horde and Alliance pennant crests are redrawn: a clenched fist for Horde, a heraldic lion for Alliance -- clearly faction-coded rather than the original abstract tusk/wing emblems.
  • The window is about 10% smaller overall.

Changed

  • Toast pop-ups are gone. Every alert now goes through the center-screen HUD banner only -- fewer competing notification styles, and it's the one players said they liked better.

1.1.3

Fixed

  • The "Confirm A/B Wins" buttons on the Bracket tab used fixed pixel widths, which could never be right for an arbitrary player name -- too narrow clipped it, too wide overflowed the panel for a short one. They now each flex to about half the panel's width, with the same ellipsis-truncation fallback as everywhere else for the rare name that still doesn't fit.

1.1.2

Fixed

  • Long names (cross-realm players, or dev mode's fake -DevRealm entrants) could wrap across multiple lines in the bracket tree, roster list, and prize item list, breaking those fixed-height rows out of shape. All of them now stay on one line and truncate with "..." instead.
  • The Roster and Prizes lists' scrollable area never actually got a real width (only height), so anything anchored to its right edge -- the Paid checkbox, Remove buttons -- could sit right next to the name instead of at the row's right side.

1.1.1

Fixed

  • The Bracket tab always laid out every round at full size, so tournaments with more than 3 rounds (9+ entrants) ran the later rounds, including the final, off the right edge with no visible way to reach them. The bracket now shrinks to fit whatever's actually on screen.

1.1.0

What's New

  • Dev mode (/hdc dev): local-only testing commands, a fake roster and generated bracket to look at, one-shot triggers for every toast/HUD alert, and a way to run the countdown/Duel-button and ready/forfeit prompt flows solo. Nothing it builds is ever synced to a real party or raid; see /hdc dev for the full command list.
  • "Transfer Host" and "Add From Raid" controls in the tournament window, so a host can hand off control mid-tournament and quickly add group members who haven't signed themselves up.

Fixed

  • The Roster and Prizes tabs could render on top of each other instead of switching cleanly.
  • The host action bar could overflow into its own status text once more than a couple of buttons needed to show at once (e.g. during sign-ups).
  • A player's faction crest could go missing on the Bracket tab for anyone not currently in your live group (affected dev-mode's fake roster, and would also affect a real entrant who left the group mid-tournament).

1.0.0 - Initial release

What's New

  • Full raid/party 1v1 dueling tournament flow: sign-ups, a seeded single-elimination bracket with proper bye placement, and round-by-round progression.
  • Synced 3-2-1 countdown with a one-click DUEL! button that targets your opponent and opens a real duel.
  • Automatic duel-outcome detection with host confirmation before anything touches the bracket, plus a manual override and a forfeit button for when a duel can't be finished.
  • Gold and item prize pool with winner-take-all, top-2, and top-4 split modes, a payout checklist, and a one-click "open trade with this player" helper.
  • Toast notifications and center-screen HUD banners for every big moment: sign-ups opening, a new round, a match win, and the champion.
  • Custom Horde and Alliance banner art, filigree window chrome, and a bracket-tree view with faction-crested match nodes.
  • Minimap icon, movable/resizable window, and a settings panel.

How to Use It

See the README for the full walkthrough. Short version: /hdc to open the window, Create Tournament, sign up, generate the bracket, and go.

Heads Up

  • Gold/items are a shared ledger, not a real transfer. Blizzard doesn't let any addon move currency or items between players. See the README's "About gold and items" section.
  • Duel-outcome detection is a self-report from each combatant's own client, confirmed by the host before it's final. This is deliberate, not a bug, so a missing addon on one side or a laggy client never blocks the tournament.
