3.4.2
What's new
Hated Company Commander
3.4.2
- Updated for World of Warcraft 12.1.5.
3.4.1
- Shows under Hated Gaming in the AddOns list.
3.4.0
A whole new look. The panel has been redrawn from scratch in the Hated style, and it is all about Alliance vs Horde now.
- New logo banner hanging over the top of the window, with the real Alliance and Horde crests on the war banners. You can turn it off under Options, Appearance ("Logo banner") for a plain title.
- Colours follow the list you are looking at. Alliance lists are blue, Horde lists are red, Wintergrasp and shared lists are gold. The line under the header lights up on your side.
- The Alliance / Horde switch uses the real faction crests and sits on the toolbar next to Add callout. Wintergrasp shows Attack / Defend there instead, and lists with no faction split say "Shared list".
- You can see where callouts go at a glance. A chip on the toolbar shows /rw, /i, /raid, /p or local, with the raid warning switch right beside it. An "In combat" chip shows while edits are waiting for combat to end.
- New callout cards, with a coloured stripe, a small ping marker on callouts that ping, a line count on multi-line callouts, and a flash when you click one.
- New map tabs and mode rail. The tabs still hang off the bottom, wrap onto a second row and drag to reorder. The mode rail on the side has new icons for Epics, Battlegrounds, Blitz, Brawl, Arena and World.
- New dock tab, still Hated red and pulsing, still works in combat.
- Redone editor, with a "What the button runs" box that shows the exact macro your callout will fire for the group you are in right now.
Nothing changed about how callouts send. Your callouts, tab order and dock position all carry over. If you had changed the callout colours in the options, "Reset appearance" gives you the new ones.
3.3.3
The scale slider under Options, Appearance now covers the whole panel, not just the main window. Renamed to UI scale, and it resizes the callout editor too, so it does not look like a mismatched separate window when you have scaled the panel up or down.
3.3.2
The solo (no group) preview no longer runs through a macro at all, and prints straight from the click instead. 3.3.1's two-command fix helped, but the macro route itself could leave the game's own chat box in a bad state after a solo click, which could then throw an unrelated error the next time you did something as ordinary as joining a group. That is gone now, and solo callouts can show real item, toy and spell links again too, since there is no macro text to fit them into anymore.
3.3.1
Fixed a bug that could throw a Lua error instead of printing a callout when you are solo (no group): any line past the second would fail. The local-only print now packs every line into at most two commands instead of one each, so a full six-line callout prints solo the same as it always has everywhere else. Quotation marks, apostrophes and backslashes are also dropped from the local-only print, since they were unreliable in the same spot. Raid warning, instance, raid and party chat were never affected by any of this.
3.3.0
Hated Company Commander is not just an epics addon anymore. There is a column of round mode tabs on the window now, styled like Blizzard's own vertical tab strips: Epics (everything you had), Battlegrounds, Blitz, Brawl, Arena and World. Each one has its own row of tabs along the bottom, its own callouts, and its own tab order, the same way Epics always worked, just multiplied out. Your existing Epics callouts are untouched, right where you left them.
- Battlegrounds: the full standard map pool. General, plus Arathi Basin, Battle for Gilneas, Deepwind Gorge, Eye of the Storm, Silvershard Mines, Temple of Kotmogu, Twin Peaks, Warsong Gulch and Deephaul Ravine. Each map has its own Alliance and Horde list, like the epics.
- Blitz: the full map pool. General, plus Arathi Basin, Battle for Gilneas, Deepwind Gorge, Eye of the Storm, Silvershard Mines, Temple of Kotmogu, Twin Peaks and Warsong Gulch, written for eight a side instead of a full team.
- Brawl: a General tab for whatever is rotating this week, plus the active/recurring rotation - Arathi Blizzard, Classic Ashran, Comp Stomp, Cooking Impossible, Deep Six, Deepwind Dunk, Gravity Lapse, Packed House, Shado-Pan Showdown, Tarren Mill vs. Southshore, Temple of Hotmogu, Warsong Scramble and AV's Revenge. The ones that reskin a real map get that map's Alliance / Horde switch; the bot fights, resource races and scramble formats are one shared list.
- Arena: General, 2v2, 3v3 and Solo Shuffle. These always go to your own team's chat, never instance chat, so nothing you call ever reaches the other team.
- World: a General tab for contested rares, escorts and the usual open-world callouts.
If a mode has more tabs than fit the window's width, they wrap onto a second row instead of running off the edge.
Docked to a side, the mode strip and the pull-tab both move to stay clear of each other: the strip mirrors onto the far edge from wherever it would otherwise hang off screen, and the pull-tab slides out past the strip instead of sitting on top of it. Collapsed, the strip is hidden and the pull-tab sits back flush against the edge.
3.2.4
Each tab now holds up to 50 callouts, up from 30.
A few quieter fixes: switching profiles rebakes every tab's macro instead of just the one you are looking at, callouts stop getting rebaked on every zone crossing when the channel has not actually changed, and the dock's pull-tab stops pulsing while the window is closed.
3.2.3
The dock pull-tab works in combat now. It is a secure click handler, so a real
click on the tab slides the panel in or out even mid-fight, the one window
action that is not locked during combat. Everything else about the window still
waits for the fight to end. The /hcc dock slash still cannot move it in
combat (it runs code, not a click), so it points you at the tab instead.
There is a Raid warning toggle on the main window now, next to the "Callouts
send to" line. On, callouts broadcast as raid warning while you lead. Off, they
fall back to instance or raid chat, for leaders who would rather not fill the
warning channel. It is the same setting as the one under /hcc config,
General, just easier to reach.
3.2.2
The callout editor has an Insert row now. Click a raid target marker to drop its
{rt1} to {rt8} token where the cursor is, so it shows as that icon in the
callout. Next to them is a %t target button: it drops %t, which the game
swaps for your current target's name when the callout goes out, so "Kill %t"
calls whoever you have targeted.
The solo preview keeps up now. When you fire a callout with no group, the local
print swaps %t for your target and draws {rt6} and friends as icons, the
same as a raid would see. Before, those showed as raw text when solo.
3.2.1
Multi-line callouts are back. 3.2.0 joined every callout into one line; now each
line is sent as its own raid warning again, up to six. Turns out a macro can
carry several /rw lines fine.
The window, the dock and the tabs are locked while you are in combat. The panel is built from secure buttons now, which makes moving, resizing, docking or opening and closing it a protected action mid-fight. It was throwing errors when you tried. Now it just holds still: set your position, dock and tab before the pull, click callouts during the fight, and adjust again when it ends. The dock pull-tab says so if you click it in combat.
/hcc lockdown fakes that combat state on and off from anywhere, so you can see
how the panel behaves in a fight without queuing for one.
3.2.0
Callouts are secure macro buttons now. The game stopped letting addons post
to chat from a normal button click inside a battleground, so each callout fires
its own /rw (or /instance, /raid, /party) macro on the click, the way a
hand-made macro does. This makes it work again, with a few consequences, all of
them only while you are in combat:
- Set up before the gates. Adding, editing or reordering a callout, switching faction or Wintergrasp role, and changing the layout all take effect once combat ends, not during it.
- A callout sends as one line. If the text has several lines they are joined into one on send (a macro can only carry one chat line).
- The channel is chosen when the callout is saved and while you are out of combat, and rebaked when you gain or lose lead, join a group or zone into an instance. So get lead or assist before the pull and it will be a raid warning.
Callouts can drop a ping. In the editor, tick "Also drop a ping when this
callout fires", pick a type (Attack, Assist, Warning, On my way) and a target
(your target or your focus). The callout's macro gets a /ping line before the
chat line, so one click both pings that unit and sends the callout. Ping
callouts have a blue border. Like everything else on a secure button, set them
up before the pull.
Callouts can carry links. Drag an item, toy, spell, mount or battle pet from your bags, collections or spellbook onto the callout text box and it drops a proper clickable chat link, the same as dragging one into a macro.
Raid target markers work. Type {rt1} to {rt8}, or {skull} {star}
{cross} and the rest, and they show as icons in chat, and in the solo preview.
Tab order starts as Ashran, Alterac Valley, Isle of Conquest, Slayer's Rise,
Wintergrasp, General. Drag the tabs along the bottom to set your own order,
saved with your profile; reset it under /hcc config, Layout.
Reorder callouts with the Up and Down buttons in the editor (right click a callout). Callout buttons no longer drag, since they are secure.
Wintergrasp and General no longer split by faction. Wintergrasp keeps only its Attack / Defend switch; General is one shared list. Your callouts carry over.
Faction and Wintergrasp-role controls left the options panel (both switches are on the window). Layout gained button-height and spacing sliders, a Reset layout button, and a default of six columns.
3.0.2
The General tab now has separate Alliance and Horde callout lists, and Wintergrasp now has a full list for each faction and role combination (Alliance Attack, Alliance Defend, Horde Attack, Horde Defend). Your existing callouts carry over.
3.0.1
Fixed the Alliance / Horde and Wintergrasp Attack / Defend switches not changing the callouts once you had added or edited one. Each side now keeps its own list, so the switch just shows the other set and your edits to one side never touch the other. Your existing callouts carry over on first login.
Hated Company Commander is a callout panel for PvP raid and group leaders. Each tab is a grid of one-click buttons, and clicking one broadcasts a short strategy line to your group, so you can lead the fight instead of typing during it.
Getting started
- Type
/hccto open the panel. It opens on the last mode and tab you used, and reopens itself after a reload if it was open. - Pick a mode on the rail down the right edge: Epics, Battlegrounds, Blitz, Brawl, Arena or World.
- Pick a tab along the bottom for that mode's maps or brackets. Drag the tabs to reorder them; each mode keeps its own order.
- Left click a callout to send it. The "Sends to" chip on the toolbar tells you where it will go.
- Right click a callout to edit its text, or use Add callout for a new one.
Where your callouts go
Each callout fires a macro, so the channel is fixed when you save it and while you are out of combat, then rebaked when your group state changes:
- Raid warning, if you are the raid leader or an assistant
- Instance chat, in any battleground-shaped instance (Epics, Battlegrounds, Blitz, Brawl)
- Party chat in an arena, always, so nothing an Arena tab sends can ever reach the other team
- Raid or party chat otherwise
- Printed to your own chat frame when you are solo
The "Sends to" chip on the toolbar shows the current pick (/rw, /i, /raid, /p or local). If it does not say /rw and you want it to, get lead or assist before the gates open, out of combat, so the macros bake with the right channel.
Next to it is the Raid warning switch. Leave it on and callouts use raid warning while you lead. Turn it off if you would rather keep callouts in instance or raid chat and not fill the warning channel.
Faction
An Alliance / Horde switch sits on the toolbar on every tab that is a real map or a brawl that reskins one (the Epics faction tabs, every Battlegrounds and Blitz map, and Arathi Blizzard, Classic Ashran, Deepwind Dunk, Gravity Lapse, Tarren Mill vs. Southshore, Temple of Hotmogu, Warsong Scramble and AV's Revenge under Brawl), set to your faction automatically. Flip it to load the other side's defaults for prepping or reviewing. Alterac Valley (and its brawl, AV's Revenge) are fully mirrored (north or south, Drek'Thar or Vanndar, the right towers and graveyards); the others name your side's target where there is one, or share the same list where the map is symmetric either way. Tabs you have edited are left alone when you switch. Every General tab, Wintergrasp, Arena, World, and the brawls that are not a faction fight (Comp Stomp, Cooking Impossible, Deep Six, Packed House, Shado-Pan Showdown) do not split by faction.
Wintergrasp
The Wintergrasp tab has its own Attack / Defend switch in the same spot instead. The two callout sets are completely different, so set it to match which side of the fortress you spawned on. It does not matter which faction you are, both sides fight over the same keep.
Editing callouts
Right click a callout to edit it, or Add callout for a new one. Each line you type goes
out as its own raid warning, up to six. Drag an item, toy or spell onto the box
for a link. The Insert row under the box has a button for each raid target
marker ({rt1} to {rt8}, shown as icons in chat) and a %t target button
that drops %t, replaced with your target's name when the callout is sent.
{skull} {star} and the rest also work if you type them.
Turn on "Ping with this callout" to make the callout also ping your target or
focus on the same click (a /ping line goes into the macro). The "What the
button runs" box at the bottom of the editor shows the exact macro for the
group you are in right now.
Because a callout button is secure, adding, editing, deleting or reordering one only takes effect once you are out of combat. Set your tabs up before the pull.
Reordering
Use the Up and Down buttons in the editor to move a callout within its tab. A callout you Add lands at the end; move it up to where it belongs.
Drag the tabs along the bottom to set their order. Each mode keeps its own order, saved with your profile; reset the one you are viewing in the options, under Layout.
Docking
Drag the window against any screen edge and it snaps and docks there. The flashing red pull-tab slides it in and out with one click, so it can sit out of the way until you need it. Drag it off the edge to undock.
The pull-tab is the one control that still works in combat: clicking it slides the panel in or out mid-fight. Moving, resizing or docking the window any other way still waits for the fight to end.
The mode rail normally hangs off the right edge of the window; docked to the right, it mirrors onto the left instead so it never ends up off screen.
Options
/hcc config opens the settings: whether to use raid warning, the minimap
button, the dock, layout (columns two to eight, button size, reset the tab
order of the mode you are viewing), appearance (scale, colours, the logo
banner), profiles, and a Reset callouts section grouped by mode. Faction and
Wintergrasp role are set from the switches on the window itself.
