Description

HardcoreWager

A play-money sportsbook inside Classic Era, run on your hardcore realm's death feed. Every death announced on the realm settles bets. Pick what the next death will be, build parlays, bet the realm's pace, and climb a leaderboard that other players' clients verify.

Points only. Nothing is exchanged with other players, and nothing leaves the game.

Requires

DeathNotificationLib, the library behind Deathlog. If you run Deathlog you already have it. HardcoreWager will not load without it.

Getting started

Type /hw. You start with 1,000 points. Pick a market, set a stake, place the bet, and wait for the realm to do what it does.

/hw tracker toggles a small panel that stays on screen with your riding bets and a New Bet button. /hw help lists the commands.

What you can bet on

Next Death. Picks about one specific death, combined in a bet builder:

  • Class, race and level bracket
  • Higher or lower level than the last death
  • Where they die: dungeon or open world, or a specific zone, dungeon, raid or battleground
  • Cause: creature or environment
  • Whether the victim is in your guild
  • First letter of the name

One pick is a single. Two or more combine into a parlay whose odds multiply. Target the next death, the 2nd death from now, or the 3rd, so you can chain picks across deaths. Impossible combinations such as a Gnome Paladin are refused. Save a set of picks as a template and place it again in one click.

Pace. Will there be a death in the next 2 minutes? Over or under a line for the next 5, 10 or 30 minutes.

Patterns. The next two deaths share a class. The next two are in the same level bracket. The next three are all different classes. A double kill within 60 seconds.

First To 3. Which class, or which level bracket, records three deaths first.

Quick Bets. Your saved templates, and the bets other players on the realm place most often, ready to load or place.

How odds work

Odds come from the deaths the addon has seen: the more often something happens, the shorter it gets. Every option carries one phantom death so nothing is ever impossible, and the house keeps 5 percent. Odds lock when you place. Hover any option to see exactly how its price was built. Choose American, decimal, fractional or implied-chance display in Settings.

Settlement

Every settlement tells you what happened, in chat and on the tracker: "Warrior on the next death: lost, Spunwarrior was a Mage." Open Bets shows live progress on every leg. History keeps every settled bet grouped by day with a Rebet button.

A leg the feed cannot classify is void and drops out of a parlay at even money. Bets left open when you log out are voided and refunded, because no death can be seen while you are offline.

Leaderboard

Everyone running the addon on your realm shares their bankroll and record. The board ranks them, with a Guild only view. Because a client cannot be trusted with its own score, every client also announces its bets as they are placed and settled, and everyone else replays those against the deaths they saw themselves. Players whose bets check out are marked verified and sort first. Click a player to see the bets you witnessed from them.

Reset your bankroll to 1,000 only when you hit zero. Every reset is counted and shown on the board.

Settings

Odds format, a sound for each event with preview, chat announcements, the on-screen tracker, whether to share your standing, and window scale.

Notes

  • The addon joins a hidden chat channel on login to exchange standings. You will see one "Joined Channel" line the first time, the same as Deathlog.
  • You only see deaths from your own faction, so the board only offers your faction's races and classes.
  • Classic Era only for now.
