Hardcore Unit Frames Changelog

2.0.0 — Major Runtime, Raid & Designer Release

Hardcore Unit Frames 2.0.0 promotes the accumulated production work from the 1.1.4–1.1.13 line into a new major release. This is a consolidation release rather than a SavedVariables reset: existing account-wide Master and user-created profiles remain authoritative and schema remains 6.

Runtime Performance & Event Architecture

Replaced broad full-frame refresh behavior with targeted health, power, aura, target, name, cast, and state refresh paths wherever practical.

Aura collection is driven by UNIT_AURA or explicit full refreshes rather than unrelated health/power events.

Advanced runtime keeps only bounded conditional update work for visible cast timing and timed aura countdowns.

Added one shared Raid base-event dispatcher instead of forty independent frame-level roster handlers.

Raid advanced unit-event coverage unregisters completely while HUF Raid is disabled.

Disabled Raid does not allocate advanced cast/aura/warning regions until needed.

Party and Raid range presentation share bounded conditional range work rather than per-frame/per-unit permanent polling.

Classic 1.15.9 Stability & Accuracy

Hardened health, resource, cast, aura, targeting, combat, class-resource, healing, and pet-state paths against inaccessible/secret values before Lua-side inspection.

Inaccessible numeric values are not converted or formatted by HUF Lua; Blizzard StatusBars may still receive Blizzard-owned values directly while unsafe custom numeric text remains blank.

Preserved event-backed unknown-duration channel behavior and the rule that channel-tick UNIT_SPELLCAST_SUCCEEDED is not terminal authority.

Preserved secure-frame and combat-lockdown deferral for protected layout and Blizzard-frame replacement changes.

Designer Readability & Interaction

Added Designer UI Scale choices of 100%, 115%, 125%, and 140%.

Added independent Designer Text Size choices of 100%, 115%, 125%, 140%, and 150%, with 125% as the additive default where no prior value exists.

Enlarged editor labels, controls, panes, menus, and preview presentation independently from gameplay-frame typography and geometry.

Replaced unnecessary blanket all-caps application text with Title Case while retaining uppercase for intentional gameplay/status semantics.

Fixed dropdown captions so the currently selected value, including fonts, updates immediately after selection.

Fixed mixed header/item row pooling that caused attempt to index field 'state' (a nil value) during Designer menu/search refresh.

Test Mode & Frame Movement

Replaced the old ambiguous lock/unlock/Test Mode interaction with one explicit Test Mode workflow.

Entering Test Mode collapses the full Designer and establishes a compact top-center controller with a persistent Exit Test Mode action.

Esc exits Test Mode immediately.

Exiting restores the Designer automatically when Test Mode was launched from the Designer.

/huf while Test Mode is active exits Test Mode and returns to the Designer.

Normal gameplay is locked; Test Mode is unlocked. Legacy /huf lock and /huf unlock remain compatibility aliases.

Dedicated gold drag surfaces keep secure unit-button click handling from competing with frame repositioning.

Disabled groups appear dimmed in Test Mode instead of disappearing, so they can be positioned before being enabled.

Party moves as one stack and Raid moves as one complete grid.

Optional Raid Frames

Added Raid as a full Designer context.

Supports up to 40 secure raid1–raid40 unit frames with one shared customizable design.

Raid remains disabled by default and does not replace Blizzard Raid frames until explicitly enabled.

Supports configurable geometry, scale, growth direction, players per column, horizontal/vertical spacing, dead/offline alpha, optional range fading, typography, bars, auras, casts, markers, and applicable HUF elements.

Test Mode shows the full 40-player Raid grid even while Raid is disabled, at reduced opacity, and moves it as one layout rooted at raid1.

Blizzard Compact Raid suppression remains optional and combat-lockdown safe.

Unit-Frame Visual Readability

Removed the old opaque/gray Frame Root surface while retaining the live configurable Frame Root outline.

Standardized authoritative bar width resolution between runtime, advanced runtime, Designer preview, hitboxes, and property controls.

Health and Resource bars support Auto Darkened Fill, Custom Background, and Transparent depleted regions.

Auto Darkened Fill uses a dark high-opacity tint derived from the effective fill color rather than a generic gray slab.

Automatic resource colors use a brighter readability-first palette, including a substantially brighter Mana blue.

Typography & Legal Packaging

Bundles exactly three supplied Barlow Condensed weights used by HUF: Regular, Medium, and SemiBold.

Designer application chrome uses bundled Barlow Condensed Medium by default while gameplay-frame typography remains profile-controlled.

Includes LICENSE.txt, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, the complete Barlow OFL 1.1 license, and SHA-256 hashes for the exact bundled font binaries.

Barlow remains separately licensed under SIL OFL 1.1 and is not relicensed under HUF's All Rights Reserved project license.

Expressway and Doris PP binaries are not redistributed.

Persistence & Compatibility

SavedVariables schema remains 6.

Existing Master and user-created profiles are preserved and remain authoritative.

Legacy Barlow labels from early 1.1.10/1.1.11 builds remain compatibility aliases.

Factory Master remains byte-identical to the authoritative source with marker HUF1 / 6A098C6D.

Portraits remain intentionally excluded.

1.1.x Release-Line Note

1.1.4, 1.1.5, 1.1.6, 1.1.10, 1.1.11, 1.1.12, and 1.1.13 are preserved below as the detailed production history leading to 2.0.0.

1.1.7 and 1.1.8 were rejected development baselines and are not authoritative release sources.

1.1.9 was a superseded development-only visual-refresh build and was not used as the 2.0.0 source foundation.

The later production line was rebuilt from authoritative 1.1.6 before continuing with 1.1.10+.

1.1.13 — Streamlined Test Mode Workflow

Reworked Test Mode to follow the simpler Hardcore Action Bars interaction contract: one explicit entry action, one persistent exit controller, and no separate lock/unlock state to manage during normal editing.

Entering Test Mode from the Designer now collapses the full Designer and establishes a compact top-center Test Mode controller before rendering live placement previews.

The Test Mode controller provides a large Exit Test Mode action and supports Esc as an immediate exit path.

Exiting Test Mode automatically restores the Designer when Test Mode was launched from the Designer.

/huf while Test Mode is active exits Test Mode and returns directly to the Designer.

Legacy /huf lock and /huf unlock remain supported as compatibility aliases, but normal gameplay is always locked and Test Mode is always unlocked so the addon can no longer enter an ambiguous unlocked-but-not-editable state.

Test Mode now shows every configurable unit group even when that group is disabled; disabled groups are dimmed placement previews and return to hidden state on exit.

Raid continues to show the complete 40-player grid as one movable Test Mode layout.

Preserves the bundled, legally documented Barlow Condensed Regular, Medium, and SemiBold files introduced in 1.1.12.

Corrected the quality gate to validate the three actually bundled Barlow Condensed menu choices instead of legacy compatibility aliases.

SavedVariables schema remains 6 and the canonical Factory Master remains unchanged.

1.1.12 — Test Mode Raid Preview & Designer Stability Hotfix

Fixed Designer element-list row pooling so category headers can never be reused as item rows without the required state controls; resolves the reported attempt to index field 'state' (a nil value) menu/search failure.

Raid now renders its full 40-frame grid in Test Mode even when Raid is disabled, at reduced opacity, so placement and customization can be completed before enabling Raid for live gameplay.

Raid Test Mode remains a single movable grid anchored through Raid 1.

Normal editor action labels use Title Case instead of unnecessary all-caps treatment.

Font dropdown captions continue to refresh immediately after a selection.

Bundles exactly three supplied Barlow Condensed weights: Regular, Medium, and SemiBold; no unused family weights are packaged.

The Designer application chrome now uses bundled Barlow Condensed Medium by default while gameplay-frame typography remains user/profile controlled.

Preserves legacy 1.1.10/1.1.11 Barlow selection aliases so existing saved profiles continue to resolve safely.

Includes the supplied OFL 1.1 license and exact SHA-256 records for every bundled Barlow font binary.

Schema remains 6 and the canonical Factory Master is not rewritten.

1.1.11 — Test Mode, Frame Lock & Designer Interaction Repair

Test Mode / Frame Movement

Fixed the 1.1.10 regression where entering Test Mode could leave the live frames non-draggable.

Entering Test Mode now explicitly unlocks frame positioning; leaving Test Mode returns frames to the safe locked state.

Added a dedicated gold Test Mode drag surface above each enabled unit frame so secure unit-button click handling no longer competes with live frame movement.

Party movement remains rooted at party1, and Raid movement remains rooted at raid1, so each group moves as one layout.

Centralized frame lock/unlock behavior through one controller used by the Designer, command menu, and slash commands.

Designer Interaction

Fixed choice/dropdown controls so the displayed value refreshes immediately after a selection, including font choices.

Replaced arbitrary all-caps Designer chrome with normal title-case labels for context tabs, section/category headings, frame controls, Test Mode controls, profile UI, clipboard actions, and common dialogs.

Preserved uppercase only where it conveys an intentional compact/semantic gameplay state rather than using it as a blanket UI style.

Validation / Compatibility

SavedVariables schema remains 6.

Factory Master remains unchanged.

No new third-party binary is introduced by this patch; the curated Barlow integration and legal files from 1.1.10 remain intact.

1.1.10 — Performance, Readability, Raid Frames & Curated Barlow

Performance

Rebuilt from the authoritative 1.1.6 baseline.

Base unit events use targeted refresh paths instead of broad full-frame work for most health, power, target, name, and state changes.

UNIT_AURA updates only aura presentation for the affected HUF unit unless an explicit full refresh is required.

Advanced runtime retains one conditional 10 Hz updater only while visible cast timing or timed aura countdowns need it.

Added one shared Raid base-event dispatcher instead of forty independent raid-frame event handlers.

Split advanced Raid unit events onto a dedicated conditional dispatcher; raid1–raid40 advanced events are completely unregistered while Raid is disabled.

Disabled Raid no longer allocates cast/aura/warning advanced regions at startup; those regions are created lazily only when Raid is enabled.

Raid unit-event coverage unregisters while HUF Raid is disabled; roster/range work is gated to enabled Raid presentation.

Range Status text now shares the bounded range updater even when opacity fading is disabled.

Stability / Classic 1.15.9

Hardened advanced cast, aura, targeting, combat, class-resource, healing, and pet-state paths against inaccessible/secret values before Lua-side inspection.

Inaccessible Classic health/resource numerics are never converted or string-formatted by HUF Lua; StatusBars may receive Blizzard values directly while unsafe custom numeric text remains blank.

Preserved event-backed unknown-duration channels and the rule that channel-tick UNIT_SPELLCAST_SUCCEEDED is not terminal authority.

Preserved secure-frame/combat-lockdown deferral for protected layout and Blizzard-frame replacement changes.

Designer Readability

Designer UI Scale choices: 100%, 115%, 125%, and 140%.

Added independent Designer Text Size choices: 100%, 115%, 125%, 140%, and 150%; 125% is the additive default when no prior value exists.

Enlarged editor text/control presentation without changing runtime element font sizes or saved frame geometry.

Enlarged the live Designer preview independently from gameplay-frame geometry.

Preserved the Elements / Canvas / Properties three-pane workflow.

Unit-Frame Visual Readability

Added Health/Resource depleted-region modes: Auto Darkened Fill, Custom Background, and Transparent.

Auto Darkened Fill derives a high-opacity ~20% tint from the effective fill color.

Brightened automatic Mana and other resource colors for readability against the transparent frame treatment.

Frame Root remains transparent with its configured live outline.

Optional Raid Frames

Added the Raid Designer context and up to 40 secure raid1–raid40 unit buttons.

Raid is disabled by default.

Added configurable Raid frame geometry, scale, growth direction, players per column, X/Y spacing, dead/offline alpha, optional range fading, and applicable element styling.

Test Mode moves the Raid grid as one layout rooted at raid1.

Blizzard Compact Raid presentation is suppressed only when HUF Raid and Hide Blizzard Raid are both enabled, with combat-lockdown deferral.

Curated Barlow / Legal

Added exactly four curated font choices: Barlow Condensed, Barlow, Barlow Medium, and Barlow SemiBold.

Barlow choices resolve through LibSharedMedia/SharedMedia in this package; no Barlow font binary is redistributed because official binaries could not be fetched and hash-verified in the executable build environment.

Added LICENSE.txt, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md, and ThirdPartyLicenses/Barlow/OFL.txt.

Barlow remains separately licensed under SIL Open Font License 1.1; HUF's All Rights Reserved notice does not relicense it.

Expressway and Doris PP binaries remain absent.

Persistence / Baseline

SavedVariables schema remains 6.

Raid and Designer readability fields are additive defaults and do not replace existing profile values.

FactoryMaster.lua remains byte-identical to the authoritative 1.1.6 source with marker HUF1 / 6A098C6D.

Existing saved Master, user profiles, style presets, geometry, attachments, and media remain authoritative.

1.1.6

Restored the configured Frame Root outline to live gameplay so the full frame boundary and Auto-fill reference width are always visible.

Frame Root background/fill remains fully transparent; this does not reintroduce gray space behind Health, Resource, Cast, Heal, or Absorb bars.

Added one authoritative Frame Root outline color/size resolver shared by neutral runtime presentation and semantic-border restoration.

Threat, low/critical-health, and Party-target states may temporarily override the root outline and now restore the configured neutral outline when they clear.

Renamed Frame Root properties to Frame Root Outline Size and Frame Root Outline Color because they now apply to both Designer and live gameplay.

SavedVariables schema remains 6; existing profiles and Factory Master remain unchanged.

1.1.5

Frame Root outline is now Designer-only during normal presentation.

Live unit frames no longer render a persistent root border/outline.

Semantic Hardcore alert borders (critical/low health, threat, Party targeting) remain available only while their state is active.

Neutral/cleared alert state always restores a fully transparent runtime root border.

Frame Root properties now label the editing controls as Designer Outline Size/Color and explicitly document runtime transparency.

SavedVariables schema remains 6; existing layouts/profiles are preserved.

1.1.4

Removed the opaque unit-frame root backdrop so unfilled Health/Resource areas are transparent instead of gray.

High Contrast no longer forces a solid frame background.

Standardized bar width resolution across runtime, advanced runtime, Designer preview, selection hitboxes, and the Properties inspector.

Width now reports the effective width while Auto-fill is enabled; entering a Width switches the bar to fixed width so the entered value is authoritative.

Renamed Fill available width to Auto-fill frame width for clearer semantics.

Portraits remain excluded.

SavedVariables schema remains 6.
