What's new

TCC 1.4 ~ If you have suggestions please comment!

This one is for messing about. There's a new Guild Events tab with two games in it, and the addon finally stops insisting it belongs to The Crimson Cohort.

Still talks to older versions. People who haven't updated just won't see the games — nothing breaks for them.

The guild name is yours now

Guild Settings has a new Guild Identity section at the top with a Guild Name field. Whatever you put in there replaces "The Crimson Cohort" in the window title and the minimap tooltip. It's a guild-wide setting like everything else on that tab, so the guild master sets it once and it syncs to everyone.

It applies on the next reload, because the title is stamped on the window when the window is built. Leave the field empty to go back to the default. The entry in Blizzard's own AddOns list doesn't change — that text is read off disk before the addon runs, so nothing in-game can touch it.

Guild Events tab

New tab, visible to everyone. It shows the scoreboards. The buttons that start and stop a game are limited to audit ranks, same as Monitoring and Members.

There's also a shorter slash command now: /gf does everything /gfound does.

Tag

A proximity game for a party or raid. One person is "it", and when they get close enough to someone else, that person is tagged and becomes "it". Tagging someone is worth +2. Getting tagged costs you 0.5.

/gf tag enable picks a random person near you to start as it. From there the game runs itself. /gf tag disable ends it, /gf tag reset wipes the scoreboard, and /gf tag range <yards> changes how close you have to be — 3 yards by default. Anything under about 2 rarely fires, because character models don't actually overlap that closely.

The important part: nobody's position is ever sent anywhere. The game only works in a group because the game client will already tell you where your own party and raid members are standing. The client who is "it" does all the measuring locally, ten times a second, and the only thing that goes out over the addon channel is "X tagged Y". That's one small message per tag, so a forty-person game costs about as much traffic as a couple of guild chat lines.

Dead players, disconnected players, and anyone in a different instance are all skipped. If two people are stacked on top of each other, it rolls between them rather than quietly picking whoever has the lower raid slot. There's a 5 second grace period after every tag so you can't be tagged straight back.

Death Run

A moderated race with permadeath. Stand where you want the finish line to be, press Set Goal (or /gf deathrun setgoal <name>), then Start. Everyone running reports how far they are from the destination, the board sorts closest-first, and dying takes you out of the running at whatever distance you managed.

Closest survivor wins. Anyone who actually reaches the goal is marked finished and ranks above the rest. /gf deathrun status prints the standings, and Stop ends the race and announces the winner.

Unlike Tag this doesn't need a group, so the field can be spread across the world. To keep forty people reporting distances from flooding the channel, a client only speaks up when it has moved at least 5 yards, never more than once every 5 seconds, and always at the lowest priority so it can't delay an actual audit alert.

Existing guild rules still apply during a run — the trading and grouping restrictions you've already configured keep generating alerts as normal.
