Why GuildAssist?

Guild leadership often means switching between separate recruitment addons, spreadsheets, notes, calendar tools, guild-bank windows, and chat macros. GuildAssist replaces that fragmented workflow with one cohesive addon designed specifically for everyday guild administration.

It is built around four principles:

Quick Start

1. Open GuildAssist

Enter either command in chat:

Both commands toggle the GuildAssist window. The full /guildassist prefix supports every /ga subcommand documented below.

2. Configure Recruitment

Open the Settings tab and review:

Guild invitations require a guild rank with invitation permission. Blizzard-protected actions may also require direct keyboard or mouse input.

3. Save a Recruitment Message

Open Recruitment, write a message of up to 255 characters, and select Save message.

Use %player% to insert the candidate's short character name automatically:

Hi %player%! We're a friendly guild recruiting for events, group content, and an active community. Would you like an invite?

When Send recruitment message before manual invites is enabled, this message is whispered before Recruit-button and /ga invite actions.

4. Build Your Candidate Queue

Add candidates by:

• Entering Character-Realm and selecting Add candidate.
• Selecting Scan /who.
• Entering /ga scan.

Each queued candidate can be Recruited, Skipped, or Blacklisted. Blacklisting removes the candidate from the active queue and prevents the same normalized character name from being re-added later.

For a direct invitation outside the queue, use:

Recruitment and Wingman

GuildAssist provides a centralized workflow for finding, contacting, and inviting prospective guild members. GuildAssist turns recruitment into an organized workflow rather than a collection of one-off whispers and forgotten names.

GuildAssist routes its searches away from Blizzard's social interface and suppresses Who windows opened by its own searches. A Friends window that you opened intentionally remains untouched.

Background /who Searches

GuildAssist routes its searches away from Blizzard's social interface. It also suppresses a Who window opened by its own request before, during, and immediately after result processing.

If you intentionally had Blizzard's Friends window open before the scan, GuildAssist preserves it.

What Is Wingman?

Wingman is a player-assisted recruitment queue. It advances one eligible task following supported player input and never runs as unattended automation.

When Wingman receives an eligible step, it:

1. Looks at the oldest valid queued candidate.
2. Sends the saved recruitment whisper when that option is enabled.
3. Requests the guild invitation.
4. Marks the candidate as contacted only after the recruitment request succeeds.
5. Starts a background scan when the queue is empty and another scan is available.

Failed or restricted actions leave the candidate in place for a later attempt. They do not silently consume or reorder the queue.

Configuring Wingman

In Settings, choose a minimum and maximum interval between 1 and 30 seconds. GuildAssist selects a randomized delay inside that range after each successful Wingman action.

Wingman listens for supported world clicks and common action-button input, including normal action-bar use. A short input debounce prevents one physical action from producing duplicate steps.

You may also assign Run next Wingman action in World of Warcraft's Key Bindings → GuildAssist category or select Wingman step on the Dashboard.

Wingman in Restricted Instanced Content

Retail can enable chat-messaging restrictions in battlegrounds and other instanced content. When Blizzard reports that restriction:

• Wingman cannot be enabled.
• An already-enabled Wingman is turned off automatically.
• The Recruitment control displays Wingman: locked.
• No whisper editor is opened.
• No candidate is contacted, removed, or reordered.
• Wingman becomes available again after the restriction ends.

Players receive this clear message when activation is refused or Wingman is disabled:

Sorry, wingman mode does not work in certain instanced content.

Blizzard may also hide incoming whisper text or sender information from addons during restricted content. GuildAssist safely ignores protected whisper payloads instead of producing errors. Keyword invitations and whisper-created applications resume when the game exposes that information again.

Important: /ga wingman toggles Wingman on or off. It does not itself perform the next queue action.

Inactivity Review

World of Warcraft exposes guild-bank contents only while you are actively interacting with the guild bank. GuildAssist updates its snapshots during valid bank sessions and retains the most recently available local information afterward. Set the inactivity threshold in Settings. GuildAssist then identifies offline members whose locally observed activity exceeds that threshold.

GuildAssist validates the complete local date and time. Impossible dates, invalid leap days, hour 24, and overflow values are rejected rather than silently converted.

Announcements are shortened to World of Warcraft's 255-character chat limit and are sent only when you select Announce.

Applications

Applications can be:

How to Refresh Bank Data

1. Open Blizzard's guild bank.

5. Select Refresh tab if an additional request is needed.

World of Warcraft only exposes guild-bank contents during a valid guild-bank interaction. GuildAssist retains the latest available local snapshots after the bank closes, but it cannot retrieve new remote bank information while you are elsewhere.

Local Member Profiles

• Link alts to a main character.

When GuildAssist confirms a newly joined member, it adds that character to a local welcome queue.

Messages are never broadcast on a timer and are sent only through an explicit player action.

Wingman says it is locked

Blizzard has activated chat-messaging restrictions in your current instanced content. GuildAssist intentionally keeps Wingman off and preserves the queue. Leave the restricted content and try /ga wingman again when the game permits it.

A candidate was not invited

Check that:

• You are currently in a guild.
• Your guild rank can invite members.
• The character name and realm are correct.
• The candidate is not blacklisted.
• Wingman is enabled and not restricted.
• Your recruitment message is saved if pre-invite whispers are enabled.
• Blizzard is not currently preventing the protected action.

Failed Wingman recruitment attempts remain queued for retry.

The Who window appeared

GuildAssist sends its own searches to the background and performs additional suppression around result processing. If Blizzard's Who window still appears, confirm that no other addon is issuing /who requests or explicitly opening the Social interface.

Guild-bank information is missing

Open Blizzard's guild bank, select the desired tab, and wait for its contents to load. GuildAssist cannot retrieve a tab the game has not exposed during the current bank interaction.

The GuildAssist window is off-screen

Enter:

Who Is GuildAssist For?

This restores the window to the center without deleting settings or guild records.

Use Validate first. GuildAssist will identify checksum, schema, size, record-count, or formatting problems before applying any changes. Recopy the entire backup if the checksum does not match.

Does GuildAssist synchronize officers automatically?

No. GuildAssist is deliberately local-first. Use a full text backup when you want to transfer information manually.

Does it require Ace, LibStub, or another addon?

No. GuildAssist has no addon or library dependencies.

Does Wingman run while I am away?

No. Wingman advances through supported player input and respects randomized timing and Blizzard restrictions.

Can Wingman run in every battleground or instance?

No. When Retail reports restricted chat messaging, GuildAssist prevents Wingman from enabling and turns it off if it was already active. Your candidates remain queued.

Does GuildAssist automatically remove inactive members?

No. Inactivity is presented as a review tool only. Member removal always requires an authorized, confirmed action.

Can GuildAssist read the guild bank from anywhere?

No. Blizzard exposes bank contents during a valid guild-bank interaction. GuildAssist stores read-only snapshots of tabs that the client has actually loaded.

Are imports safe?

Imports are treated as data, never executable code. They are size-limited, record-limited, schema-checked, checksum-validated, and repaired before use.

Can I use GuildAssist across multiple guilds?

Yes. Saved information is scoped by faction, realm, and guild so characters in different guilds do not share the same active management records.
