Description

Great Vault Odds

Great Vault Odds helps you compare loot specialisations and see which one gives you the best odds at receiving a specific item from the Great Vault, Mythic+, dungeon bosses, and raid bosses.

When you hover over supported current-season loot, the tooltip shows which of your specs can receive the item, how large each spec's eligible loot pool is, and whether raid items are currently eligible for your Great Vault based on your raid progression.

Great Vault Odds helps to answer questions like:

  • Should I open my Great Vault as a different loot spec?
  • Which spec gives me the best chance at this item?
  • Can this item drop for my other specs?
  • Am I making my loot pool worse by choosing this spec?
  • Is this raid item eligible for my Vault yet?

In short: smaller eligible loot pool = better odds at the item you want.

Great Vault Odds is especially useful if your class has specs with different roles, weapon types, armour priorities, or trinket pools. Sorry, Warlocks and Mages. You know what you did!

Tooltip Breakdown

For Mythic+ and dungeon items, Great Vault Odds shows:

  • Vault: total eligible Mythic+ Great Vault items for that spec
  • M+: total eligible items from that dungeon for that spec
  • Boss: total eligible items from that dungeon boss for that spec

For raid items, it shows:

  • Boss: total eligible items from that raid boss for that spec
  • Vault: Great Vault odds for LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic based on your progression in each difficulty

If a raid item is not currently eligible for your Great Vault on a difficulty, that difficulty is shown as N/A.

Example

Imagine you want one specific item from the Great Vault.

  • Spec A can receive 58 eligible Vault items
  • Spec B can receive 72 eligible Vault items

If both specs can receive your target item, Spec A has better odds because its loot pool is smaller.

That does not always mean Spec A is automatically the best choice. You may also want to consider whether another spec can receive undesirable items, such as role-specific trinkets, unwanted weapons, or items for slots you already have covered.

Great Vault Odds gives you the numbers directly on the tooltip so you do not have to count loot tables yourself.

Current Support

Great Vault Odds currently supports current-season dungeon and raid loot for all your specs, from both the Great Vault and the specific boss encounter. It also supports the M+ end-of-dungeon chest. For raid Great Vault items, Great Vault Odds updates your character's odds for each difficulty dynamically based on your progression.

The addon is still actively being developed. Planned or possible future features include bonus roll support, more tooltip customisation, modifier-key controls, tooltip visual polish, group member loot eligibility, item slot targeting, loot spec reminders, automatic loot spec swap reminders, and localisation.

Support

If you notice incorrect loot data or run into an issue, please leave a comment or open an issue on GitHub. Reports are most helpful when they include the item name, your class/spec, the content type, and a tooltip screenshot.

I appreciate all reports, suggestions, and feedback.
