Description
A fancy new immersive level-up screen inspired by older CRPGs. See your stat gains, check which trainer abilities you still need to learn, save a bit of time!
This addon is primarily built for WoW: Forever. Retail support is included but currently untested, but seeing as they use very similar APIs it shouldn't be too hard to sort out for the future :3
Features:
- Stat gains: Shows your old and new values for stats that increased.
- Trainer abilities: Displays unlearned abilities as spell icons with tooltips.
- Weapon skills: Lists unlearned Forever weapon proficiencies on a separate, smaller line. Can be disabled in the options.
- Customizable appearance: Change fonts, text colours, background opacity, scale, portrait style, and animation speed. Drag the popup to reposition it.
- Sound options: Choose a built-in sound or use your own sound file.
How to Use:
(Note: This is only in place for the beta. Once Forever ships I can commit a "permenant" version of the trainer skill list)
Visit your class trainer once so the addon can save its ability list. Weapon skills use a built-in list and do not require a trainer visit.
Open the settings through the minimap button or type /glu options. Use /glu test to preview the screen without leveling up.
If you're updating from an earlier version and having issues, please make sure to clear your trainer cache with /glu cleartraining, then visit your trainer again. This helps prevent conflicts between versions
AI Disclaimer:
I am still very new to LUA and used AI as a training tool and to help me debug and to suggest ways to build certain functions, AI was primarily initially used to help me write and understand the functions that allow for spell book caching.
I intentionally stuck to the free version of Claude which only gives me around four code pulls a day to discourage myself from relying on it too much. Any area of code in which AI was used I made sure to try and learn what the AI was doing and why, then quizzed myself on the functions later. A lot of Claude's suggestions were outright thrown out (e.g.: Originally, it wanted me to scan for a lot of things by name rather than using documented API calls.)
I've no desire to be sneaky about this, as it stands the addon is about 80/20 my code/AI code. My goal isn't to just throw out vibe coded slop, just to get a cool addon out that was above my level of understanding at the start while learning along the way. I hope to get to a point where I do not need to fall back on it in the future :3

Shoutout to Shadowhand for helping with testing and showing me how to go about hiding the Blizzard level-up tooltip <3
