FTL: Follow the Leader

Pick any player in your raid or party and FTL turns them into your live tutor. It watches everything they do and puts it on your screen: when they pop a cooldown, what they're hitting, when they open, and how they rotate.

Description

FTL: Follow the Leader

Learn to play your class better by copying an expert player.

Pick any player in your raid or party and FTL turns them into your live tutor. It watches everything they do and puts it on your screen: when they pop a cooldown, what they're hitting, when they open, and how they rotate. Very useful for both doing better in real time and for watching your recorded replay and analyzing what you could've done better.

Built for WoW Classic Era. Lightweight, no other-player-visible marks, and every feature can be toggled.

What it does

  • Cooldown alerts — a big center-screen callout and sound the instant your leader uses a major (Death Wish, Recklessness, Sapper, Diamond Flask, protection potions, Chronoboon boon/unboon, and more), with quieter toasts for minors (Mighty Rage Potion, Bloodrage, Pummel, Shield Bash…). A catch-all catches any other potion they drink. Each alert's sound is configurable, including a spoken "announce ability name" option like DBM.
  • Target emphasis on nameplates — the leader's current target gets a scaled-up nameplate, a glow, and a crosshair, while every other enemy plate dims. Instantly see what to focus. (Steps aside automatically if ElvUI / Plater / ThreatPlates is running.)
  • "Hold your attacks" cue — a bar shows until the leader's first swing each pull, so you learn their opener timing and stop pulling threat early.
  • Range indicator that works in raids — a color-coded square tells you whether you're in range of what the leader is hitting, working around Era's raid-instance distance restrictions.
  • Recent-cooldown icons — missed the big alert? Icons of what the leader just used linger for a few seconds so you always know what they popped.
  • Leader resource bar — their exact rage (or energy/mana/focus) so you can study when and at what threshold they spend.
  • Assist frame + keybinds — one-click target the leader or their target, or bind a key to target-and-follow them. All combat-safe.
  • Ability feed — the leader's last casts stacked over your own, side by side, so you can compare rotations at a glance.
  • Missing buffs — flags helpful auras the leader has that you don't.
  • Custom cooldowns — track anything extra by dragging an item from your bags, shift-clicking a link, or typing an ID.
  • Share your setup — export your cooldown list and sound settings as a short string your whole guild can import. One expert configures a class once; everyone else pastes the string.

Getting started

  1. Target a raider and type /ftl follow
  2. That's it — alerts and visuals appear automatically when you're grouped.
  3. /ftl config to open options, /ftl tutorial for the walkthrough, /ftl unlock to drag frames where you want them.

Enemy nameplates should be on (default key V); /ftl fixcvars sets them to max view distance for the cleanest target emphasis.

Bug reports and requests welcome. Sound effects are royalty-free from the GameAudioGDC bundle (sonniss.com).
